Chapter Thirty One

It was the next day and Liddy was slowly starting to wake up. She could hear an annoying beeping noise. She wasn't it to stop because her head was hurting really bad. She felt around the bed trying to find dean so she could cuddle up to him. But the bed felt really weird and there was things stuck to her hands.

She jolted up startled and looked down at her hands. She saw scary things attached to her and started crying again. A nurses rushed in at hearing her crying started trying to sooth her but nothing was working. Then she herd a voice from outside the door way "let me in there! That's my baby sister! She needs me!"

It was sammy she lifted her hands towards the door and started making grabby hands as she was so upset the thought of trying to speak didn't even cross her little mind. The nurse noticed what she wanted and rushed out to get them to let him in. He rushed through the door and saw her in the hospital bed crying and reaching for him. He rushed to her and sat on the bed holding her close by trying to be careful of everything attached to her. He cradled her as she cried into his chest.

Sammy kissed her head over and over and whispered to her repeatedly "it's ok Liddy, I'm right here. Your safe now." It took him a while and the nurse didn't leave the room as she kept an eye on the pair,  it sam finally got her calmed down to just sniffles and cuddles. He hated seeing her in here and knew she had been hurt.

A doctor came in and saw the pair. He nodded to the nurse who then left the room and he walked over. "Hi I'm doctor alberts. Can I ask what your relationship is with Lydia?" Sam nodded "she's my baby sister. Is she going to be ok?" The doctor nodded "yes, luckily she just has a big bump on the back of her head. We were worried about a concussion but so far we aren't seeing any signs. I do have a few concerns about her though. Mostly her weight and size. Can you confirm her age for me?"

Sam nodded "she's about 2 years and 3 months roughly. And I know she seems small. She was a premy and is still a bit behind even on her mile stones but her doctor said she was ok just small." The doctor nodded "ah, that makes more sense. Does she eat regular meals and has she been hitting her mile stones?" Sam shook his head "the meals get a bit difficult because she gets full pretty easy but we are trying to make sure she's eating enough by the end of the day. Ahh mile stones.... she is behind on most things, she walks fine, likes to copy us a lot with actions so I think her motor functions are ok. But she is behind on her talking. I think she's starting to catch up now though."

The doctor nodded again "we'd like to run just a couple of test's just to confirm everything is ok and then she should be free to go. Just keep up with regular meals even if she have to break them up a bit more. And the talking will come. It's expected for her to be a bit behind but from what you've explained, she's doing fine since motor functions are the most thing we would be concerned at this stage. It shouldn't be to long for the tests. The nurse will bring in something for her to eat and I'll leave you to continue calming her down."

Sam thanked the doctor as he left. He was glad all she had was a bump on the head but it was so close to being worse. He knew dean would be going crazy with worry for her right now. She had been his main focus since they escaped.

A couple hours later the tests were done and Liddy was aloud to leave with Sammy with a couple of instructions on her care from the doctor. Becky was there waiting for them when they were leaving. Liddy was falling asleep in Sam's arms so she didn't take notice that it wasn't the real Becky.

They caught a taxi back to becky's place. Sam sat on the chair in the kitchen talking to Becky. Liddy was fast asleep on the couch in the living room. Sam was deep in thought about where dean was right now and how he was going to handle taking care of liddy while trying to find the shapeshifter. Unlike dean, Sam really hadn't spent a lot of alone time with Liddy. And when she's upset, most of the time she went straight to dean not him. He had a lot of regrets about there relationship but that was something he would have to work on after this case was finished.
