Chapter 41: A Final Curse and A Sad Goodbye

The next morning, Tinkerbell is pulled from her sleep by the smell of coffee wafting towards her. She opens one eye and sees Killian holding a coffee mug in one hand and using his other one as a fan to wave the wonderful aroma towards her.

"Learned your lesson from the last time you attempted to wake me up after a night of drinking I see," she said, slowly sitting up and taking the coffee from him.

"Aye that I did, love," he says, picking up his own mug.

She takes a long sip of the heavenly tasting coffee and then asks, "What time is it?"

He looks at the bedside clock and answers, "Almost 10. Why?"

"Crap! I'm going to be late," she says, getting up from the bed.

"Late for what?" he asks, as she walks into the bathroom.

"My doctor's appointment, remember," she calls to him as she jumps into the shower.

He walks into the bathroom and says, "I remember. Do you still not want me to come along with you?"

"Yes. This is something I need to do on my own. I'm gonna have to lie about a few things - my scars and how I got them, the repeated rapes and beatings, my reasons for thinking I'm infertile - and it'll be easier to do that if you're not there," she finished telling him as she stepped out of the shower after the quickest shower in history.

"I understand love. Wish you'd let me be there to support you, but I'll be here for you after. And no matter what the doctor says - whether we can have a baby or not, I will love you forever," he tells her and kisses her forehead.

"I'll love you forever too. Now don't you need to go help set up for the party?" she asks.

"Yes I do. Meet me at Roni's after your appointment?" he asks as he gets in the shower.

"Yes. I'll be there. I'll be late but I'll be there," she says as she finished getting dressed. She opens the shower door and he leans out for a quick kiss. Then he pulls the door closed and Tinkerbell leaves for her appointment.

At her doctor's office, Tinkerbell sits in the waiting room, filling out paperwork, waiting to be called by the nurse. Filling out paperwork filled with lies upon lies. God she hated the lies, but sadly they were necessary, as her doctor was not from her realm.

The door to the waiting room opens and a nurse calls, "Jade? Jade Wilde?"

Tinkerbell stands up and grabs her jacket and purse, as well as the clipboard of forms and walks over to the nurse. She follows the nurse to the examination room and answers the preliminary questions from the nurse, as the nurse checks her weight, height, blood pressure, et cetera. Once the nurse leaves, she changes into the examination gown on the counter and sits down to finish filling out the paperwork of lies while the doctor takes her sweet time.

Twenty minutes later, there's a soft knock on the door and then the doctor and the same nurse enter the room. The doctor picks up the clipboard of completed forms and looks through them quickly and turns to Tinkerbell and says, "So Jade what brings you to see me today?"

"I've recently gotten engaged and well we'd like to start a family, but there's some things from my past that may make that impossible, so I thought I'd better get checked out," Tinkerbell attempted to explain.

"I'm assuming your fiancé knows what these things are?" the doctor asks her.

"Yes he is aware of them. He wanted to come along but I asked him not to. It's hard to talk about my past as it is, and I don't want him to have to relive it all over again. It hurts him to know how badly I was hurt for such a long time," Tinkerbell tells her.
