Up in the tower, Tinkerbell sat listening to Killian's and Regina's conversation. Her heart swelled at hearing Killian's declaration to go to the end of the world to find her. Alas, she knew even if they found a way into the tower and made their way to the locked room at the top and got inside, they still wouldn't see or hear her. She couldn't even write a note for them to read. But maybe, just maybe, she'd be able to touch them. She had to at least try if they got this far.
Outside, Killian and Regina walked around the base of the tower looking for a way in. They ran their hands over the stones feeling for a falseness to them or hidden hinges, while searching with their eyes for signs of a doorway. They had almost made their way back around the tower to where they had started, when Killian, who was getting more and more frustrated, punched the stone tower. A concealed door swung open almost knocking Regina down who had been leaning against that portion of stone.
She yelped in surprise, "What the hell?"
Killian said, "I should of tried that when we began. Ladies first."
Regina pulled the door open wider and walked in. Killian followed her after grabbing a log to wedge the door open with. Regina looked at him questionably.
"So it doesn't close on us and we can find our way out," he told her. "Hopefully with Tink," he added to himself.
Regina nodded and lit a couple of torches that were hanging on the wall. She handed on to Killian and took one for herself.
"I sense a lot of magic here, but I have no clue whose it is," Regina told Killian.
"Great," Killian said sarcastically, " Just great."
They shined their torches around to see what they could find in the room. There was nothing but a staircase leading up.
"I guess we go up," Killian said upon seeing nothing in the room but the staircase.
"I guess so," Regina agreed.
But the room was not empty. Sitting in a chair near the stairs, was a young woman with dark hair and regal bearing. She chuckled to herself quietly, "Well that was easier than I thought it would be." Of course Killian and Regina didn't hear the woman as she was cloaked in the same magic concealing Tinkerbell.
Killian and Regina climbed the stairs. Up and up they went. Round and round they went, as the staircase wrapped around the exterior wall. They felt like they had climbed twice as high as the tower actually was. They hadn't, it just felt that way. Finally they reached the landing at the top of the staircase. They both sat down to rest for a moment - a bit winded from the climb.
Once they had caught their breath, Killian stood up and offered his hook to Regina to help her up. Together they took the last few steps towards the door - a door behind which they hoped to find either Tinkerbell (which was preferred) or clues to her whereabouts.
Killian handed his torch to Regina and then reached for the doorknob.
"Be careful. If that doors spelled, the blowback could get you killed," Regina cautioned.
Killian took her warning to heart, and pressed himself to the wall and very slowly and carefully opened the door. The door opened easily to reveal a large round-ish room. The only flat wall was the one on which the door was located.
Hearing the door open, Tinkerbell looked up from where she was sitting on the floor to see Killian and Regina standing in the doorway. She didn't say anything cause she knew they couldn't hear her or see her. But looking at their shocked faces, she wasn't so sure of that.
Tentatively she asked, as she stood up, "You can see me?"
"Of course we can love. Why wouldn't we?" Killian asked.
"Because when you were outside I could hear you talking and I was yelling at you to look up and banging on the windowsill, but you couldn't hear me then," Tinkerbell said.
"I'm guessing the concealing magic being used only works when you're outside, blocking any noise coming from inside the tower," Regina said.
"That would be correct, Regina," a voice said from behind Killian and Regina.
Startled, they whirled around to see a young dark- haired woman standing behind them.
"Drizella! What do you want?" Regina asked.
"The same thing I wanted the last time our paths crossed, Regina. You to help me save my sister Anastasia," Drizella informed her coldly.
"I'll tell you know the same thing I told you then - I don't have that kind of power," Regina told her.
"Ahh but between the fairy, you, and me, we will have the power," Drizella said.
"What is she talking about, Regina?" Tinkerbell asked, crossing to the doorway.
Regina took a deep breath and said, "Her sister fell into a freezing lake and was nearly frozen to death when their father pulled her from the lake. Their mother preserved her last breath in her body to keep her from dying. Unfortunately no one has been able to bring her back. No one person has that kind of power."
"But the three of us combined do have the power," Drizella said.
"There's only one problem with your plan," Tinkerbell said, "And that's the fact that I can't help you. I can't wield dark magic as a fairy."
"Well you better figure out how to because the three of you aren't leaving here till you help me," Drizella said coldly. With a sweep of her hand, she threw Regina and Killian into the tower room with Tinkerbell and locked them in the room.
Killian and Regina got to their feet and the three of them looked at each other and said at the same time, "Now what are we going to do?"
