Chapter 17: Into Hiding We Go

About 3 hours after falling asleep, Tinkerbell woke up to kisses being peppered across her neck. She sighed deeply and, "Killian."

"About time you woke up love. I'm doing some of my best work here," he said softly. Then he shifted to kiss her on the lips. But before things could get anymore heated, there was a knock on the door.

Tinkerbell got up and walked over to the door, opening it up to find Regina standing there, looking very nervous.

"Uh oh what happened?" Tinkerbell asked.

"You two need to get going. My magic isn't going to protect you much longer here. I made you each an amulet to wear that will conceal you from Blue for at least 2 or 3 more days, but you got to leave here like now," Regina explained hurriedly, handing Tinkerbell the amulets.

"Who's coming?" Killian asked from behind Tinkerbell.

"Royal guards. I saw signs that they had searched here for me earlier, probably shortly after you broke me out. Their coming back again. They can't find you here or you'll be arrested along with me," Regina said. "I gathered some supplies for you. You'll need to hide in the forest away from the main roads and villages and no fires. The amulets conceal you and your supplies but won't conceal a fire."

"Aye love we got it," Killian said. "If it's one thing a pirate knows how to do its lay low when he needs to."

Tinkerbell grabbed her boots and quickly put them on, while Killian put his hook, boots, and jacket back on. Tinkerbell put on one of the amulets and put the other one around Killian's neck. Then she put on the cloak Regina gave her and picked up one of the bag of supplies. Killian picked up the other bag and slung it over his shoulder. They said their goodbyes and thanked Regina for her help with everything and quickly ducked out the front door and ran for the woods.

Once they were a few miles from Regina's house, they stopped to catch their breath and talk about where it would be best for them to hide. They decided to hide in a series of caves located a few hours walk from their current location. It would provide shelter from the oncoming storm and had a hidden hot springs so it would be warm thus avoiding the need for a fire. They set out quickly for the caves once they could breathe without gasping for breath.

They arrived at the caves just as night fell. They walked as far into the caves as they could before lighting a torch to see by. Once they could see where they were going, they picked up the pace to get further into the cave system and further away from the entrance where someone could by chance see their light. After a few minutes of twists and turns, they came to a large open room that was quite a bit warmer than the rest of the caves...they had found the hot springs.

They set up camp in one of the alcoves just far enough away from the springs to be comfortable but not sweltering hot. Killian pulled a lantern out of the pack he carried and lit it, so he could extinguish the torch. Tinkerbell laid out bedding and then got some food out so they could eat.

Once they had sat down to eat, Killian asked, "Why have you been so quiet love? You haven't said a word since we decided to hide here in the caves."

Tinkerbell softly said, "I'm sorry. I'm just scared of what's going to happen when Blue finally finds us. I don't want to lose you. I'm not ready to lose you."

"I feel the same love. But rest assured, if she does separate us, I will go to the end of the world to find you again and I always will," Killian softly replied. "Let's get some rest as it has been a long couple of days."

Tinkerbell just nodded and laid down after removing her boots and cloak. Killian removed his jacket, boots, and hook and laid down next to her covering them both with a blanket.

She snuggled closer to Killian and kissed him gently. He kissed her back. She sighed and Killian deepened their kiss. The kiss quickly became more heated, more passionate. In short order their clothes were removed with no aid of magic, as they didn't want Blue to find them. That night they made love slowly and tenderly as they knew it could possibly be one of their last times together.

They fell asleep entwined in each other's arms, sated for now, and more in love than ever.
