It was spring break and Cherry found herself going to La Push everyday without having a choice .

She stayed at the Black's residence instead of going to the pack house like the rest of the imprints .

Bella , for Jacob's sake , spend time at the pack house too .

The pack's schedule was mostly full of patrols for some reason .

Bella was all secretive about it and so was Jacob . Nobody gave her any explanations and she didn't see Sam much to ask him . Not that she wanted to ask him anything.

She missed him ,though, as stupid as it sound . She missed him a lot. He was afterall her soulmate ,right? . So she was bound to miss him .

Once or twice she had to run to the store for Billy ,encountering Zara and some friends there. They'd say nasty things about the little pale face and giggle about it .

She ignored them mostly because she'd come to the conclusion that Zara was jealous that the Alpha hadn't imprinted on her instead of Cherry .
Zara was stuck with Embry and Zara hated it .

Sometimes Cherry didn't understand how a sweet boy like Embry could imprint on a bitch like Zara .

Billy's house hadn't looked as clean as it looked like now since his wife's death .

Cherry cooked and cleaned and did everything she could to keep busy .

It was her defence against having to think about her friends that wasn't her friends anymore.

One day just before noon Sam came walking into Billy's kitchen looking worse for wear .

There were backs under his eyes and dark circles around them and he looked exhausted .

" Hello, Cherry ", he greeted her as she stood near the stove eyeing him up and down .

" Billy isn't here ", she said quickly , wondering what he was doing there .

" I know . I came to see you , actually . I thought that maybe I should make sure that you're okay on your own here ".

She shrugged . " Well, I'm fine . You can lea_"

" No !", he almost shouted ,then softer ," No , I wanted to talk . With everything that's happened this past year we haven't really spend time just talking . You and me ,that is ".

She sighed and looked away and down at the stove she was cleaning . Jacob had made a real mess with it that morning and she hadn't come around to it until now .

" Sam ....I ....I don't know if talking would solve anything ," she said her voice as tired as he looked ," Everyone just cares about Bella and keeping secrets and ....and ....".

She sighed and looked at him . He stood there with his hands in his pockets and she could see the guilt in his eyes and the hurt .

She knew she was being petty . He was trying . She understood that . But with everything that happened ,she just couldn't forgive him or anyone else for how they've treated her .

" I'm sorry ".

His voice was barely there ,but she heard him as he spoke .

" I'm sorry for everything ".

She stared at him when his second apology came ,not knowing what to say back . Does she say that she forgive him?. Wasn't that the right thing to say ?.

" Look ,I know everything really started because of that message I sent you months ago ," he continued ," I can't say sorry for Jacob or the packs part in all of this . I hope they eventually apologize like I'm trying now . Anyway , if I've known how you'd feel about not belonging and about not being able to go to the pack house I'd probably have done things differently . I was only trying to protect you and I'll admit I didn't want you near Jacob because I was sort of jealous too because of your relationship with him . I know I should've ,maybe , tried harder and well, invited you when the other imprints was eventually let back in . I'm sorry that I didn't see you that day Bella confronted the pack . I'm sorry about the secrets and Bella . We don't just care about her . We're protecting you and your Dad also from ...".
