Adam POV

I'm startled awake by Sandy checking Kami's vitals. The sun is up now. It's a new day. I lean over the bed to rub the back of Kami's hand.

"She's okay. She will just be sleeping a lot the next couple of days." Sandy interrupts my thoughts.

"Did her head scans come back yet?"

"Ya know lover boy, I'm not really suppose to tell you that kind of information..."

I give her my best puppy dog eyes.

She half smiles. "My shift is about over and you two really are something. So I'll tell you. We got the results on her head scans they are negative. And it's documented that they do not believe she is a victim of sexual assault." Her voice is softer than usual

My shoulders slump over in the chair from the weight being lifted and I let out a heavy sigh of relief for Kami.

"Her concussion is severe. She needs to rest physically and mentally. If she were to get another concussion before this one heals we would have a major problem."

"Got it. So don't let her lift a finger." I take Kami's fingers in between mine.

"I figured you'd do that regardless. Take good care of that one. She is quite the fighter."

"Thank you Sandy."

It's still early in the morning no one will be coming to visit for a little bit. I've read every magazine in this room already so I pull out my phone to play some music.

And the voices of Boyz II Men play quietly. A perfect song "More Than You'll Ever Know." I hum to the song quietly. I remember the first time Kami caught me listening to them on our first date.

"Are you fucking seriously listening to Boyz II Men?"

I whip my head to face Kami. She has one eye open looking at me with a smirk on her face while her hands rest on her stomach.

"Baby! Did I wake you? How are you feeling? What hurts? Are you hungry? What do you need?" I blurt out a million nervous questions

"Fuck don't answers those you are suppose to rest."

"I need you to calm down." Her smile growing wider. It makes me want to cry seeing her come back to life. But I'm going to keep it together.

I lean over and place a gentle kiss on her lips. I've been dying to do that for hours.

"How are you?" Her voice cracks

"You seriously aren't asking me that. Do not worry about me! I... I just... fuck..." my words trail off. I can't keep it together replaying yesterday in my head. "I thought I .. wouldn't see you..."

She scoots over in bed and pats it for me to lay next to her.

"Are you sure? I don't want to hurt you." All I want to do is squeeze her but I know I shouldn't.

"Stop being an idiot." She smirks again. How can she be so playful right now?

I lay beside her and she immediately rolls over to put her head on my chest to listen to my heartbeat.
