7. The Interview!!

Nitya was applying for job at different portals when Agastya came bouncing in joy spotting a toy bag in his hands.

Agastya : Mommy see my new racing car

Nitya huffed seeing the new toy : Again new car Agastya? I had told you not to ask granny for any new toy. You have enough of it already.

Agastya : Mommy me no ask. My new friend got me this.....

Nitya frowned : New friend??

Prerna sauntered in the room hearing the mother-son talking : Yes apparently your son made a new friend who bought him this toy today at the mall. Don't you know about him??

Nitya kept her laptop aside and looked at her son curiously who was busy unwrapping his new car set : Agastya which friend granny is talking about??

Agastya was so engrossed in playing that he didn't bother to reply his mother's question. Nitya breathed out in irritation and snatched the toy away from Agastya's hands.

Agastya : Mommy no. Give my car back. I wanna play with it.

Nitya : Then answer me first. Which new friend got you this??

Agastya : I met him where we came from plane....

Prerna : It seems that these two met at New Zealand airport. He met Agastya today again at the mall and it was him only who bought this toy car too.

Nitya : Agastya is a child but you are an adult mom. You should have denied this gift from a stranger.

Prerna : I did deny Nitu but that man and his sister insisted.

Nitya : Agastya next time if you want anything then you should tell mommy understood and never accept anything from any unknown person.

Agastya : But mommy I know him. He my friend.

Nitya : It's still a no. Clear?

Agastya pouted : Ok mommy but now can I play with my new car?

Nitya slid the car in his direction and stood up following her mother in the kitchen to help with dinner.

Prerna : Did you forward your resume Nitu?

Nitya : Yup mom I have interview with R & R Technofirm tomorrow but I am a bit nervous.

Prerna waved her air in dismissal : Don't be because you are too talented for your own good.

Next day, Nitya was waiting in the lounge area of R & R Technofirm for her interview when she heard her name being called.

Following the directions given by the receptionist, she knocked on the door of HR office and went inside.

The HR head was a man in fifties and he gave a smile to Nitya before gesturing her to have a seat.

HR : Hello Ms. Nitya Shrivastav I am Manohar Patil and I am the HR head here. I went through your resume and I must say it's quite impressive. So tell me something about your work experience in last company.

Nitya confidently started speaking : It was one of the top leading firms in New Zealand and I was the team lead and senior software developer there.

Manohar : I won't beat around the bush Ms. Shrivastav. You are the best candidate so far I have interviewed and we would really like you to join us.

Nitya : What position will I be getting here sir??

Manohar : Project manager and here's the terms and condition for you to read and sign if you agree to join our company.

Nitya : Is it ok if I let you know my decision by tomorrow??

Manohar : No problem. Take your time and let us know by tomorrow afternoon but if you agree, you have to start the very next day.

Nitya nodded and went out after shaking her hand.

Reading the terms and conditions and discussing with her parents, she accepted the job at R & R Technofirm and joined the following day.

Nitya first went to the HR office to sign the employment form and complete few formalities before starting her work. The HR manager gave her a quick tour of the entire office and introduced her to few other employees working on the same floor as hers and lastly guided her to her new cabin.

HR manager : Mam the extension numbers are on the paper in the first drawer. Call me if you need any help.

Nitya smiled and thanked him for his assistance and then started her assigned work. The week passed smoothly for Nitya since she joined the company. She even made few work friends with whom she started spending her lunch and break times.

One fine day, Nitya was working on her laptop when her assistant informed her that the CEO wants to meet her. Nitya glanced at herself before proceeding towards the top floor in anticipation as to why the CEO was suddenly calling her. She had met the senior Mr. Rajwanshi last week but his son who is the current CEO is a mystery. She has heard many rumours about how rude and strict boss is he and how he likes his privacy.

Nitya breathed in and knocked on his office door. Hearing a curt reply from the other side, she ducked her head down and went inside.

Atharva was engrossed in reading a file when he heard a sweet feminine voice sending a shiver through his system. Lifting his head up, his midnight black eyes met her brown ones. A wave of shock passed between them and a small smirk appeared on Atharva's lips seeing Nitya still.

Atharva : So you are the new project manager we hired last week!! Anyways take a seat Miss????

Nitya jerked back from her daze hearing his rough yet firm voice and took a seat opposite to him : Nitya Shrivastav!!

Atharva masked his face back to blank one and slid a file across Nitya : This file has all the details of Lawson technology. I hope you are well aware about that firm. From now on, you are going to lead that project. You can leave now!!

He got back to his work without bothering to wait till she leaves. Nitya glared at him feeling insulted by his rude dismissal. No wonder the office gossip of him being crude was right. She grabbed the file and turned on her heels, shutting the door close behind her with a little extra force and smiled in satisfaction when she heard a loud bang sound.

The jerk deserves it!!

Atharva looked up and clenched his jaw hearing the loud bang. No employee of his so far had the audacity to act like this in front of him ever. This woman surely has some balls. Seeing her today, he was reminded of Agastya. The frown on his face morphed into a smile just thinking about that sweet boy. Agastya is sweet but Atharva made a mental note to tame his mother.

On the other hand, Nitya came back to her cabin and sat down with a loud sigh. She closed her eyes in frustration just thinking about Atharva. God why that man is becoming like an unwanted glue in her and her son's lives. First he did friendship with Agastya in first meet only then two weeks ago, he bought him a toy and now she comes to know that he is her freaking boss!!
Banging the file in her handbag, she grabbed her phone and stood up to leave informing the HR manager for half day leave since her mood was spoiled by certain someone.
