12. It's a yes!!

Atharva was drinking his whiskey sitting in the balcony of his penthouse and overlooking the skyline of Bengaluru City. His face was morphed into a thoughtful expression when his phone vibrated. A smirk appeared on his lips seeing the caller.

Atharva : Yes mom??

Natasha : It's a yes Atharva!!

A sly smile appeared on Atharva's face and he disconnected the call saying goodnight to his mother.

Atharva (self talk) : Told yaa Nitya that you won't win against me!! Be ready to become Mrs. Atharva Rajwanshi very soon.

Previous day

Prerna thrusted a silk saree in Nitya's hands gesturing her to get ready.

Nitya : What's with this saree Mom??

Prerna : Wear it fast and get ready. We are expecting important guests.

Nitya frowned in confusion : Who?? And even if we have guests coming over why the hell do I need to get all dolled up??

Prerna sighed : Nitu please listen to me and don't ask me any questions right now. You will know who is coming and their reason of visit very soon.

Nitya shook her head when she saw her mother's retreating back. After wearing the beautiful sea blue silk saree and tying her hair in a messy bun, Nitya didn't bother to put on any kind of make up and moved out of her room when she heard the doorbell going off.

A small frown etched on her pretty face when she saw her senior boss Mr. Rajwanshi and his wife sitting in the living room talking with her parents and Agastya. Even Atharva's sister was there with them. She had met his family once when they had invited her to their house for meeting Agastya after knowing about him. Except Atharva, his parents and siblings seemed decent to her and easy to get along with.

Natasha smiled and patted the space besides her for Nitya to sit : Hey Nitya....... Come and sit here with us darling!!

Rahul : Vaishali why don't you go and take Agastya outside for an ice-cream.

Vaishali nodded and picked up excited Agastya in her arms to leave. She knew what her parents had come for and she took Agastya with her so the rest clan can talk things with peace.

Nitya : How are you Aunty??

Natasha smiled caressing her hair : I am fine darling. Sorry to come here so sudden......

Nitya : That's ok!!

Prerna cleared her throat : Umm actually Mr. And Mrs. Rajwanshi are here to discuss something important with you......

Nitya raised her eyebrow : And that would be??????

Natasha : Nitya since we have come to know about Agastya, we are thinking of something. Please just listen to us once before saying or deciding anything......

Nitya nodded.

Rahul : Actually Nitya beta we have come with Atharva's proposal for you......

Nitya : What?????

Natasha grabbed her hands in hers : Calm down Nitya and don't take us wrong. We want what is best for you, Atharva and our grandson. Please just try to be in our shoes and think.......

Nitya : But how can I?? I even said no to Atharva when he had presented this weird proposal before me earlier. I am not stopping you all to be part of my child's life but don't try to include me too. Agastya and I don't come in one package........

Natasha sighed standing up : I know beta and I am sorry. It was not our intention if you felt like that. We just want you to be a part of our family just like Agastya.

Rahul : Nitya take some time and then decide.

Manav who was a silent spectator so far stood up to see off the Rajwanshi's : We will let you know Nitya's decision by tomorrow Mr. Rajwanshi....

Rahul nodded : We will wait and Vaishali will drop Agastya home within one hour.

After the Rajwanshi's left, Nitya glared at her mother : So they were your important guests Mom?? Could have guessed......

Prerna : Nitu please don't be stubborn. You have single handedly been there for Agastya since his birth. Now when life is giving you a chance to share your responsibilities with someone then don't hesitate.

Nitya : I am more than enough for my son. I don't need anyone else in our lives.

Prerna : Are you insecure Nitu?? Don't forget whether we like it or not but Agastya is a Rajwanshi and Atharva won't stop at anything before he gets his son.

Manav : Think wisely dear.......

Nitya : Dad am I wrong to be selfish for my son?? Atharva came into picture just few weeks ago but I am with Agastya since he came in this world.

Manav smiled and patted her cheek : No dear you are not selfish but your mom is right Nitu. Just because you don't like Atharva, you can't snatch Agastya's chance of having a doting father and loving family. Your and Atharva's differences affects Agastya and he is still too small and innocent for all this mess.

Nitya : It's not like I hate Atharva dad!! He is a caring and doting father to Agastya and I trust him for my son. But I don't trust him for myself and it's not like he is also a big admirer of me.

Prerna : Still he's the one who proposed you for marriage. Don't say no Nitu. I know Atharva can be rude and arrogant at times and believe me even I felt so when I met him first time but seeing him with Agastya, my perspective is changing. I am sure there has to be some reason for him being like that. Just learn about it and help him to be a better man.

Nitya : Still it's a no! And mom I am not a social servant making others transform.

She turned and started to go towards her room when she heard her father's voice over her shoulder.

Manav : Nitu my child you are strong and independent and may not need a companion as of now but we are not. Your Mom, me and Agastya need extra support. Agastya needs a father as well and before we close our eyes, as your parents we want to see you settled with your family.

Nitya : I have my family and dad please don't talk like that! You and mom are still fit and fine.

Prerna smiled sadly : But life is always uncertain dear. Don't know when it will ditch anyone of us and we don't want you or Agastya to be left to fend on your own in our absence.

Nitya rushed towards her parents and pulled them in her embrace : Please I need you two. Don't talk so......

Manav : It's just a casual talk beta. We are not going anywhere so soon but if you feel sad even though being an adult then just think about Agastya. He may not say right now Nitu but he will need his father alongwith you as he grows up. Don't snatch that opportunity from him. That's our only wish......

Nitya sighed : I will think about it.

Next day, after thinking all the pros and cons for the whole night, Nitya called up Natasha and said her decision. A mother can go to any extend for her child and if marrying Atharva makes Agastya happy and gives him a secure future, she is ready for it.
