38. The Misleading Truth!!

Nitya was busy buying groceries when she heard a shrill female voice which made her cringe a bit. God what an irritating voice!! Turning around, she saw a lady around her age waving at her. She looked around confused as she doubted that lady was calling her.

The lady appraoched her and scanned her from head to toe : You are Nitya Shrivastav right??

Nitya : Yes but it's Nitya Rajwanshi now!! I am sorry but have we met before??

Rachna : No we haven't!! I am Rachna

Nitya tried not to cringe again at her shrill voice : Ok Rachna!! How do you know me??

Rachna smiled wickedly : You are Atharva's wife. Why will I not know you??

Nitya raised her brows in surprise : You know my husband?? But he never mentioned about you to me.......

Rachna : Thought so!!

Nitya : What do you mean??

Rachna : Let's get out of here before I answer your questions and introduce myself properly.......

Nitya still perplexed by the stranger in front of her nodded and proceeded towards the billing counter. She asked Rachna to wait for her outside in the parking lot whereas she quickly got all the things packed and handed it to Joel asking him to wait for her in their car.

Nitya folded her hands across her chest and nodded curtly at Rachna : So start......

Rachna chuckled : Just like Atharva!! No wonder he is so crazy for you!!

Nitya : Well if your self analysis is over then can you spit out the purpose for which you approached me and save my time. I have a son waiting for me at home.

Rachna : Well I am also not interested in wasting your and my time but when I came to know that your husband has kept you still in dark, I couldn't stop myself.

Nitya : What bullshit are you saying??

Rachna : Has your husband told you about his past?? How he killed my sister??

Nitya felt as if the floor beneath her was snatched and she found her hands and legs turning cold : What?????? My Atharva can....can ne....never do that!!

Rachna : Oh but he did and not only that!! He also raped my sister before killing her!!

Nitya felt her breathing becoming shallow and she grabbed the nearby bench to balance herself : You.....you are lying. He is not a rapist or a murderer!!

Rachna : Then ask him why was he dismissed from the Special Frontier Force?? He was court marshalled Nitya for his crimes!!

Nitya felt her head spinning hearing about things one after another : He.... He was in ar.... army??

Rachna : You didn't even knew that?? Well not surprising though.........

Nitya choked back the sob threatening to escape her lips : No you are lying. About everything. He can never do that!!

Rachna smirked : If you don't believe me then why don't you ask him or for that matter his family?? Why did they all hid this fact from you when they claim to trust you so much?? For being a smart woman, you sure are naive Nitya!!

Nitya felt her stomach churning and bile rising in her throat.

Rachna : He also threatened me and my family to destroy us if we didn't keep our mouths shut!! He is a vile heartless bastard who doesn't hesitate a bit to cut the finger that is raised towards him. You are just a pawn for him to keep his son in his life. If not for your child, he wouldn't even glance at you. Loving you is a facade he is putting to be a permanent part of his kid's life.
