30. Blast from the past!!

Nitya bought a coffee for herself and when she took a sip from the cup, she felt like puking. Going back to the counter, she placed the cup back and asked about the boy who served her.

Attendant : Yes mam??

Nitya : I guess you served me wrong coffee. It's Irish instead of affogato!!

Attendant : I am sorry mam. Let me get you another cup

" Still the same coffee preference??" A deep voice resonated behind her and Nitya closed her eyes hearing it.

Hearing her name being called, she took a deep breath and opened her eyes again to take the new coffee cup from the counter boy. Grabbing it, she walked past the man she never wanted to see again but he blocked her way.

Vedant : No hi or hello Nits!!

Nitya : It's Nitya for you mister and I don't interact with strangers. Excuse me!!

Vedant sighed : Please hear me out once. I have come all the way from New Zealand just for you Nits!!

Nitya gazed up and glared at him furiously : Again it's Nitya for you and I don't think there is anything left for you to say me Vedant!!

Vedant tried to hold her hand but she stepped back instantenously : Don't you dare come close to me!!

Vedant stepped back raising his hands : Alright I won't. Just calm down and I request to atleast hear me out once. Then I won't bother you....

Nitya saw the corner table unoccupied and gestured him to follow.

Taking a seat opposite and glancing at her watch, she sipped her coffee : Say whatever you have to and get lost

Vedant : How are you??

Nitya snorted : Far better than I have been with you......

Vedant : I am so sorry for whatever I did with you Nits. I know just sorry is not enough but I really regret that day.

Nitya : Done or is there anything left to say??

Vedant : I have been miserable after you left me Nits. There hasn't been a day when I didn't remembered you or yearned for you.

Nitya : Your problem not mine!

Vedant looked with sadness gracing his eyes. The regret of his past actions clear in his gaze : Don't you miss your Ved Nits?? Don't you ever remember us or our time together??

Nitya gulped back the tears trying to fill her empty eyes : Us?? There was no us Vedant. It was always me. If you were equally involved in our relationship then we would have still been together.

Vedant again tried to hold her hand but she swatted his arms away : Give me one last chance to redeem myself Nitya. I promise I will be the man you want and I won't give you any chance of complaint next time. I want you back in my life. I want what we had again.

Nitya banged her palm on the table failing to control her anger : One fucking chance?? You want another goddamn chance so you could break me again?? But guess what we are over and it remains the same. I have moved on in my life and there cannot be us ever again. Get that fact in your dumb brain very clearly.

Vedant : I am ready to accept your child too Nitya. I promise I will treat him like my own. I will keep you and that kid very happy.

Nitya snickered : That kid of mine is already happy and so am I. And why would you treat him like your own when he already has his father who treats him like a prince.

Vedant gritted his teeth : If that man can become his father then why can't I??

Nitya : Because that man's blood and genes run in my son's body. He is my child's biological father.
