Shuichi pov

Hello my name is Shuichi Saihara. I am a detective and I'm currently on one of my cases. I'm searching for a child that ran away. Me and my group went to investigate the home of Ouma family.

We went to their home. When we came in we saw most horrible thing. Alcohol bottles on the floor, cigarets and other drugs on the floor, it smelled bad really bad. The child parents were on the couch well only his father. He told us about his step mother and what is she doing to him and his son Kokichi. Mother wasn't home but Kokichi ran away a week ago.

Its horrible really Kokichi is only five years old and only god knows where he is. I was assigned to search for him...alone so thats what I'm doing. 'Its useless' I sat down on a nearby bench in the park. I sighed and called my boyfriend Rantaro (multi shipper, but you already know that) "Hi Shuichi whats up?" He said in the phone "I'm gonna give up soon-" I started

"Oh no you wont!! You wont give up on that child!!! This child needs help, hes in pain Shuichi!! Even if you want to give up, even if I or you don't know this child!! Shuichi...this child is broken, he ran away, heck hes probably scared as fu*k right now. So don't give up. His family is breaking apart. You said his father will put him in an orphanage. Please find him. Shuichi when you find him you bring him to our home okay. Now get up even if it takes you full night to find him. You will do it. Now go. Oh and I love you. Go!" And he hung up. 'Hes right' I shook my head, stood up and went on.

I was walking on a edge of the city looking for Kokichi. I looked at my phone, the time read 2am in the morning. I rubbed my eyes and went towards the river I sat down and grabbed a rock. I threw it in the river. Right at that time I heard rustling and a splash. I stood up in an alarm and looked around, I took my phone and open up the flash. I looked again and saw a person drowning in it I didn't even think I threw off my jacket and shirt and then jumped into the water. I opened my eyes under water and saw a body of a child. I swam towards it and pulled him out of the water.

I took us to the shore and the child started coughing water out. After that he went limp 'oh god its Kokichi!' I held Kokichi close and wrapped him in my jacked I put on my shirt and ran home. It was a long run, Kokichi woke up shivering and muttering 'help' so I decided to do something. I stopped and sat down on a bench in the park. I held him close "Shhhh. Its okay. Your safe. Im here shh" kokichi opened his eyes and looked at me. He teared up and hugged me close "shhh its fine now" I whispered. He just muttered another 'help'. This is so heartbreaking. This child is broken mentally. I stood up and started walking back home.

In the way home I heard him speak "m-mister?" He asked his voice trembling "yes what is it?" I asked nicely a small smile on my face to show him that he is okay. "I-I'm...s-scar-red" he said slowly "its okay. Im here now okay. I wont hurt you." I said to him and petted his hair. He snuggled in my chest "w-where a-r-re we g-going m-mister?" Kokichi asked "we are going to my house so we can clean you up okay and mine name is Shuichi." I explained to him slowly so he can understand "Shu-shu...Shumai!" He said cheerful 'he cant say my name...cute' "s-shumai...y-you won't h-hurt me r-right?" He asked scared "no I wont hurt you. Never." I said hugging him close "thank y-you" he said hugging me back.

I was walking for a little more and soon our house came into the view. When we came I walked to the door and ringed a bell. Soon enough Rantaro opened the door to greet "hell-" before he said hello Kokichi started to squirm away from him and out of my grasp "hey shhh Kokichi its fine. Its fine. He wont hurt you. Shhh" I held him rubbing his little back for comfort "S-shumai" he said scared crying into my chest "Shuichi whats going on?" Ranran asked worried "I found Kokichi...hes mentally broken and doesn't trust anyone who he sees. He trusts me cause i saved him from drowning." I explained
"S-shumai...he he h-hurt m-me?" Kokichi asked scared "no he wont. Hes here to help okay. He is a nice person." I said walking inside the house carefully not to scare the child more as be already is. I motioned Rantaro to come here "hello my name is rantaro." He said streching his arm to Kokichi
"h-hello Ran-rant...Taro. H-hello taro!" Kokichi said a small smile on him and gripping Rantaro's arm.

I took Kokichi in the bathroom to clean him up. I put Kokichi down and told him that he should undress and I went to pick up on of my shirts for him to wear and then went back into the bathroom and cleaned Kokichi up. When we were done I took Kokichi to the Kitchen to give him something to eat I sat him down on a chair that Rantaro prepared and gave him some toast "S-shumai?" I heard Kokichi while cleaning the kitchen "is something wrong?" "I-I w-want panta" he said 'panta huh I think we have some' I went towards the fridge and took out a grape panta for Kokichi. I opened it gave it to him and he smiled. He drank and ate everything. He yawned
"S-shumai m'tired a-a li-little" he said and I lifted him up and put him on the couch covering him with a thick blanket.

"Shuichi come here a sec" I heard Rantaro from upstairs. I went up into our bedroom "hey Ranran whats up?" He sighed "were gonna adopt him" he clapped his hands and smiled brightly "you sure?" I asked surprised by it "yes tomorrow we are getting the papers and adopt him...and thats final" he said proudly. I smiled and kissed him on the lips and he kissed back. We went to shower and to bed. We were out like a light.

The light hit me in the eyes. The light? I sat up and saw Kokichi holding his blanket in one arm and rubbing his left eye with the other. I carefully stood up not to wake my boyfriend "whats wrong Kokichi?" I asked putting my hand on his head "I-I w-was l-lone-lonely d-down" he said yawning after "wanna sleep here tonight?" I asked him "mhm" he nodded so I picked him up and laid him in the middle of me and Rantaro he snuggled in the covers and I laid down as well. And soon the darkness came back and I felt something hug me so I cracked my eye open seeing that Rantaro put his hand over us and pulled us together. I smiled and closed my eyes back shut.
