We were making our way over to Matthew and Andrew when we were stopped.

"Heyyy guysss" Nick burped "Thanks for coming to my p-party, Jessie you look amazing as everrrr" Nick slurred his words.

He was obviously already drunk out of his mind. I mean look at him he stumbling around and won't stop staring at Jessie. I can tell that Nick and Jessie clearly still have a thing for one another but neither of them will address it. Of course with drunk ness comes courage so things may change tonight. I smiled at Nick before putting my arm around is shoulder. He leaned on me for balance.

"Nick my innocent boy how much have you had to drink?" I questioned him.

"Only like... 2 bottles of cotton candy brandy that you left at my house from the last party" Nick said and winked at Jessie.

"You are completely hammered" Jessie rolled her eyes.

Although the cotton candy brandy was very strong 2 bottles would only get you a bit drunk. Nick has always been a lightweight due to his lack of interest in alcohol. Most of the people in our grade were. They only drink when there is a party which isn't that often. Not me though I drink all the time. Mostly vodka and Jack Daniels  so I've developed a huge tolerance to it. Not so surprising when your mom is passed out by noon leaving the rest of her alcohol lying about. She would never notice it missing because she never remembers a thing. When she wakes up it's back to drinking till she's unconscious. Anyways she wouldn't care if she found out I drink. I could honestly do heroin and she wouldn't bat an eye. My thoughts were interrupted by the sound of Nick laughing.

"I'm going to go play beer pong" Nick announced as he tripped, Jessie catching him before he hit the ground.

"Oh no you don't. You need to sit down and drink some water." Jessie started to lead him into the kitchen.

"The room is spinning." Nick said from the distance.

Jessie shot me an apologetic smile as she went off helping the drunken boy. I didn't mind it though as I never expected her to spend the whole party with me. I scanned the room as I remembered that I was heading over to Matthew. The room was so crowded that he probably didn't even notice that Jessie and I had arrived. Whilst searching for him I had no luck, him and Andrew were gone. I was really curious about what Matthew was telling him. I mean he looked so shocked and relieved. Probably some gossip about Missy that he had overheard.

I decided to go upstairs to put the brandy in Nicks room. I was not going to share with anyone here for 2 reasons. 1 being that none of them could handle that strong of an alcohol and 2 I wanted it all to myself. I was happy for the most part, Matthew and I were finally together. I no longer had to hide my feelings and it felt amazing despite my timidness at first. Sadly there was a lot more going on in my life besides my queerness and relationship problems. I couldn't even count the reasons to drink on 2 hands. There was my abusive brothers, my alcoholic mom, my dad that left me, all of my insecurities and on top of that my body was in so much pain that it hurt to walk. From a very young age a gained a huge tolerance for it. The alcohol always helps knock the edge off so that is mostly why I drink and of course to forget the hell that is my life. I mean I can't remember a second of my life that I wasn't either miserable or in pain. Enough of these sad thoughts I mean I'm at a party. I should be having fun.

As I walked down the starts I flicked the cap off of my full bottle of vodka. I took a small swig before letting out a sigh and whispering 'fuck it.' I pressed the bottle against my chapped lips once more as I chugged about a quarter of it's contents. If I was going to be at this party then I wasn't going to do it sober. When I'm drunk at parties I put on this 'party wolf' persona. It's better than how I act drinking alone. No one wants to face my insecurities so I just over share and be obnoxious instead. It's not all bad though Matthew was in this house somewhere. I set off again looking for him as I saw a person I remembered very clearly. Aidan. I had recognised him from a photo that Jessie showed me. He was chatting away to some girl I didn't know. As much as people assume that I'm ignorant, I actually pay a lot of attention to each person that attends my school. I even know them all on a first name basis. Mainly just to show them magic tricks but I get lonely so I try to make as many friends as possible. Of course only the select few can handle my big personality. Even if it's all an act. He doesn't notice me thankfully so I just slip away to join a drinking contest. Everyone in the garden was chugging beer from red plastic cups. I never did acquire the taste of beer but it would get me drunk nonetheless. There were 10 cups placed in a line on top of the table.

"Who wants to go next?" Devin asked.

"Me me me! I'll go next!" I shouted, making my way over towards her.

"Of course Jay I would expect nothing less." She smiled at me.

"I'll give it a go." A voice came from the crowd that had appeared.

No one was interested in the game, that was until I had arrived. I always spiced up the party and people knew for a fact that I could hold my drink. Everyone was intrigued as this mysterious volunteer made his way through the crowd. It was of course Aidan of all people. I had no reason to hate him I mean him and Matthew had one date and decided to just stay friends. Deep down I'm still jealous because of him but I shouldn't let that affect how I act towards him.

"Jay I presume? Matthew told me about you, let's see if you really live up to your image." Aidan let out a small chuckle as he met me.

"Ohhh you are going down!" I playfully pushed his shoulder and laughed.

"Ok there are 10 cups lined up in front of you. You will make your way down the line and the aim is to drink as many cups as you can before the other person. The winner will be the person that drinks the most." Devin says starting to rile the audience up.

Everyone one in the crowd was cheering us on in excitement and anticipation. If there was anything that I knew how to do it was this.

"Three... two... one... GO!" Devin screamed again the top of her lungs.

Just like that Aidan grabbed a cup and started gulping down the liquid. I grabbed cup after cup making sure to get every last drop inside me. I was 5 cups down already and looked to notice Aidan was only just picking up his third. I managed to down 7 cups total whilst Aidan was still on his third. He was being quite slow. I presumed it was because he hadn't drank much before and beer has quite a foul taste. I had clearly won the competition but me being me I had to grab everyone's attention even more. I jumped onto the table and flicked off the cap of my vodka. It was just under three quarters full. Without even thinking I smashed the glass tip against my lips and tipped all of the liquid down my throat barely even swallowing. I didn't once pause for a break due to determination. At this point everyone was chanting my name and even more people had joined the crowd. Everyone was going wild as I took the last sip and raised both of my arms in the air.

"DONE!" I screamed making sure everyone in a mile radius could hear.

To be quite honest it was sad that I didn't even flinch and kept a straight face the entire time drinking the vodka. Of course being in middle school everyone thought I was a damn prodigy and was going nuts. I wiped my chin on my sleeve as I went to jump off of the table. Of course forgetting what I had just done. All of the alcohol suddenly rushed to my head and I fell over. A whole bottle of vodka would usually kill a middle schooler so no one was surprised. Trying to avoid embarrassment I got straight up as Devin lifted one of my arms in the air.

"We have our champion!" Devin cheered.

After a little while of congratulating everyone started to disperse. I was glad to be outside because I needed the fresh air. Aidan decided to spark up a conversation with me so we talked for a minute.

The air thickened although I was outside. I couldn't even speak my voice was caught in my throat. I was stunned by what I had just witnessed. When I first stepped outside and saw Jay and Aidan about to start a drinking contest I was going to intervene but it looked like they were getting along. After I tried to use Aidan to make Jay jealous I was terrified what would happen upon their meeting. Now I know that it wasn't the Aidan situation I should of been worried about. I didn't know what to say as I saw Jay chug most of a bottle of vodka. I know he craves being the centre of attention but did he really have to take it that far. It was very overwhelming especially as Jay and Aidan were now talking as if they were 'best buds.'

" You ok there?" Jessie tapped me on the shoulder, there was a slight delay but I turned to face her.

"Did you see that?" I said eyes wide.

"Yeaaa he does that sort of stuff a lot. I guess you just haven't really seen it that much before. You do get used to it." Jessie sighed.

"How can the amount he drank not worry you?" I asked in shock.

"You get used to it but I never said you don't worry about it." Jessie cringed before placing an arm on my shoulder. "Let's go say hello, anyways it's nice he's making an effort to talk to Aidan."
