A break from it all

Jays pov

My little outburst made Nick and Andrew back off for a while. We managed to make our way out to the gym and started to play dodgeball. My energy was lacking but I was for sure not about to get hit by one of these balls. As I was dodging the many flying balls coming my way I started to talk.

"Please can you guys not tell Matthew about my cuts? I know it was only my dog but he worries a lot." I whispered to them with pleading eyes.

"Uh yea sure if it's only from your dog I guess we have no reason to mention it." Nick said as he casually smiled at me.

They did think at first I could of done it to myself but after a little consideration they came to the conclusion that it was just Featuring Ludicrous. No one would ever think that I would hurt myself and they were right to. I seemed mostly happy the majority of the time so there was never a reason for them to suspect a thing. We finished the game before heading towards the front of the school. That was when Matthew, Jessie and Missy has approached us. Nick smirked as he grabbed Jessie and attacked her lips aggressively. That was a sight I need to get used to. Matthew didn't want to push any boundaries so he softly kissed me on the cheek.

"Heyyyy handsome." I winked at Matthew trying my best to seem ok.

Truth be told in that moment I felt ok. Whenever Matthew was near it was like my troubles had disappeared for a while. I could take a break from feeling sad and alone just to appreciate this amazing boy in front of me. One I loved more than anything in this world.

"Glad you are in a good mood after ignoring me all of yesterday." Matthew teased as he poked my chest.

"I'm sorry I accidentally slept all day." I said trying to use it as some form of excuse.

"You are partly forgiven but to make it up to me we have to do something today." He smiled at me.

"Of course, do you want to come round mine?" I offered realising that we hadn't actually spent any alone time together since coming out as a couple.

"I am both excited and terrified. Never been to your house but have heard not so good things." Matthew gestured towards Nick.

"Hey! In all fairness his brothers tried to make us fight and almost eat jizz crackers when we came last." Nick loudly whispered so no one else except the group could really hear.

"That will put you off of someone's house I guess." I shrugged as everyone began to laugh.

"Your brothers won't be home right?" Matthew asked tensely.

"Nope it will just be you, me and my dog." I smirked.

Matthew's pov

When Jay and I arrived at his house he tried to warn me about the mess. I didn't mind because I knew he was a very messy person but I never expected the sight I saw as we entered. We walked into the living room which was covered in empty bottles of alcohol and unusual stains of what looks like blood and other substances. He went to his kitchen so I followed.

"Want something to eat?" He offered but I politely declined.

Curious to what food he had I opened a few cupboards which were all empty. Then I opened the fridge that had a half full mustard bottle. My mind wondered as I thought about how long it had been since he had a proper meal. He always looked fairly skinny but I never thought this would be why. My eyes met a pack of crackers that he had placed onto the counter. He grabbed half of one and put them back where he had found them. I watched him it the small thing as he savoured every single bite.
