A New Beginning

A Ring

Everyone was still there, so we sat in the living room for a bit.

“Glad to see that you two made up” Niall said rolling his eyes. “What were you doing up there with all the yelling for help?” Zayn opened his mouth to speak but Niall cut him off, “Wait! Do I even want to know?”

“She was tickling me at first then I was tickling her,” Zayn laughed. “And I wasn’t mad at her, I just wanted to see what she would do” He looked at me and winked. We sat there with everyone for a while.

Zayn’s POV

We were all sitting in the living room watching some show the girls had chosen. They were really getting into it, so I thought now would be a good time to talk to Niall.

“Niall, will you walk outside with me for a minute?” He nodded and we stood up. Jess looked up at me. “We’ll be right back.” I smiled and kissed the top of her head. We walked out back to the bench by the garden.

“Is something wrong?” He asked. I shook my head no.

“No, I just wanted to ask your opinion on something without anyone around. I want to talk to Tyler too, but you first.” I was getting nervous and thought it was funny cause Niall isn’t even her family, but whatever. “Do you think it’s too soon?”

“For what?” he asked looking at me. I raised my eyebrows and looked at him. “You mean… You and her… You want to ask her…” he stumbled over his sentences.

“It’s too soon, isn’t it?” I asked looking at him. “I was thinking next week would be good. It’s our six month.”

“No, I mean, if you feel like it’s right, that’s what you go with.” He patted me on the back. I nodded and looked at him.

“You know how it was with girls before Iris, right. You would lose interest after a few weeks,” I said hoping he understood where I was going with this. He nodded yes. “It’s not like that with her now is it?” He shook his head no. “Does she still take your breath away and make your heart race or skip a beat?” He nodded yes.

“All the time” he said smiling.

“That’s how it is with her and I don’t want to lose that.” He put his hand on my shoulder.

“Honestly, I think you two are perfect for each other and I am happy you asked me about this. I think you should do it, but you wanted to talk to Tyler first.” He smiled and stood up. “Do you want me to get him for you?” he asked.

“Nah, the girls have to work tomorrow, I’ll just talk to him then. It will be safer that way too,” I smiled and we walked back inside. I sat beside Jess on the couch and pulled her to me, kissing her forehead.

“Everything alright?” she asked. I nodded yes. We sat there for a while longer before we went upstairs to go to sleep. We lay in the bed talking before falling asleep. I looked at the clock, 10PM. Jess’s phone dinged and she grabbed it from the nightstand. Her face fell so I knew it was something bad.

“You alright? Something happen?” I asked.

“I don’t know. My boss wants to see me in his office tomorrow after lunch. He never does that unless something has happened,” she explained.

“Everything will work out like it’s supposed to,” I said kissing her forehead. She curled up to me and I wrapped my arms around her falling asleep soon after. I woke up the next morning around 10 and went downstairs to grab something to eat. I got a bagel and some juice and went to see where Tyler was. He was just walking out of his room when I walked down the hallway. “Hey,” I said looking at the ground. “Can I talk to you for a minute?” He laughed when he saw me looking at the ground.
