A New Beginning

The Talk

I grabbed my towel and dried off before wrapping it around me. I went upstairs to shower and change so I could start dinner. I thought about what to cook while I was in the shower. I got dressed and headed down to the kitchen. I decided to make some curry. It had been a while since I had cooked it. I got out everything I would need and sat it on the counter. Niall and Zayn were still outside, sitting on the patio. I could tell they were talking but I couldn’t tell what about. I suddenly remembered I was supposed to text Iris back and it was close to time for her to leave.

To Iris: Sorry, I nearly forgot to text you. We’re not doing anything. I’m cooking though. The guys are sitting outside talking.

It didn’t take her long to respond.

To Jess: Alright. Do you need me to bring anything home? I’m leaving here soon.

To Iris: Nothing in particular I need, but you might want to think about restocking the beer. Lol ;)

To Jess: Did they drink it all already??

To Iris: Not ALL of it, but pretty close lol ;)

To Jess: Grrr…. Alright, I’ll bring more home. Be there in a few.

Zayn’s POV

“Seriously though, take it easy. I know you know she just got out of that messed up relationship with Ryan. You don’t know how fragile she could be,” Niall warned me. I shook my head.

“I understand, believe me. I’m in no position to rush things. It’s only been a few months since I got out of my own messed up relationship. It may not have been as messed up as that one, but it was messed up.”

“You should talk to Iris about this.”

“Yea, maybe. I think I’m gonna go grab a shower before dinner. I’ll talk to Iris later.” Niall nodded and I went upstairs to take my shower. I couldn’t slow my thoughts down. I don’t know what to do. I can’t let her go, but I can’t stop thinking about her either. We both just got out of bad relationships; maybe that’s why we would be good together. I should just talk to Iris about it first, before I decide anything. I got dressed and decided I wasn’t really worried about fixing my hair, so I left it down. I walked downstairs to the living room and turned on Family Guy, waiting for Iris to get home. She should be on her way by now. A few minutes later, I hear the door knob turn and see Iris walking through the door with a case of beer.

“Good thing you brought some more. We are almost out.” I laughed.

“So I’ve heard. Where’s everyone?” she replied.

“Jess is in the kitchen cooking and Niall is in the shower. Can I talk to you for a minute?”

“Yea sure, just let me put my stuff up” she said as she sat the beer in the kitchen and walked back to the closet to hang up her purse and jacket. She sat on the couch beside me and said “What’s up?” I chuckled nervously and looked at her.

“Well Niall thinks I should talk to you… about Jess”

“Oh really, what about?” I proceeded to tell her about the events of the day. I knew she already heard about the e-mail, but I told her everything from my side.

“…And since we both just got out of bad relationships, I think we would be good for one another, but Niall said I should talk to you first and I thought it would be a good idea too, because you know her best out of all of us.” I rambled on at the end of my speech. She just stared at me for a minute. “Please say something. You’re kinda scaring me. I can’t tell if you are pissed or what?” I laughed.
