My Turn?

“Yea, let’s go,” I said as I stood up and handed Greyson to Niall before walking towards the door. He drove us to a small bar type place. I wouldn’t call it a night club, but it’s not just a bar. There was a band performing there tonight and I thought I recognized their name, but I wasn’t positive. We walked in and took our seat near the front and to the side of the stage. Zayn went to the bar and got us a drink. When he got back, I asked him about the band. “Do I know this band?”

“Possibly,” he smiled.

“How would I know them?”

“One of the members is an actor.”

“What’s the band name again?” I asked and the lights went down.

“Disappearing Jamie,” he said as they walked out on stage and I saw one of the actors from my favorite TV show on stage talking to the crowd. I thought I recognized the band name when we came in, but it didn’t hit me until Zayn had said the name. Tyler Posey from Teen Wolf was in this band. We watched their set and talked a bit during the break. They came back out and sang a few more songs before Tyler stopped and talked to the crowd again.

“Guys, uh, we have some special guests with us tonight,” he said looking at us. I turned and glared at Zayn.

“What did you do?” I asked.

“Our friend Zayn from One Direction is here with his lovely new wife,” he said as he motioned towards us, the crowd clapping. Zayn and I smiled and waved. He just smiled at me, not telling me what was going on. “And they have something special planned for all of us. Zayn told me that he recently found out that his wife has an amazing singing voice, so we are going to have her come up here and sing something for us,” he said smiling at me. I glared at Zayn.

“You are so dead,” I said looking at him.

“You don’t want to keep the crowd waiting, babe. It’s your turn,” he smiled.

“Come on Jess, don’t be shy. Zayn said how amazing you are. You should be proud and share it with us.” I reluctantly stood up and walked to the stage.

“I’m not used to singing in front of people,” I told the crowd. “I barely sing in front of him,” I said motioning towards Zayn. “So, forgive me if this is horrid.”

“That would be impossible,” Zayn said loudly and the crowd awed. I whispered to Tyler and asked if they knew how to play “Someone Like You” by Adele and he said yes. I took a deep breath and started the song.

“I heard that you're settled down, That you found a girl and you're married now,” I sang and the room went silent.

I looked at Zayn and he smiled at me. It actually helped to calm down my nerves when I looked at him. When I finished, the whole room was on their feet clapping. I had tears in my eyes and I ran off the stage to Zayn. He wrapped me in a hug and kissed my cheek.

“You were amazing,” he told me. I just hid my face in his neck. Tyler’s band finished their set and we left. He kept glancing at me when we were driving home. “Am I still in trouble?” I looked at him and thought about it.

“Maybe,” I told him.

“What if I told you I had another surprise for you, but you couldn’t have it until your birthday?”

“I would say that I don’t like surprises anymore,” I laughed.

“But I know for a fact that you will like this one,” he smiled.

“We’ll see.” The next week went by so fast that I almost didn’t realize it was time for Brea’s wedding. Here we were all standing in the church waiting for the music to play so we could walk down the aisle.
