Getting There

Even after we got on the plane and settled in our seats, I still didn’t know where we were going. Obviously it was warm, but other than that I had no clue. I made a fuss about the seats being in first class, but of course he wouldn’t give in. He said we were going on vacation to relax and that was part of it. After the plane took off we got comfortable and I looked out the window. We were over the ocean; it was beautiful.

“Are you really not going to tell me where we are going?” I asked. He shook his head at me.

“You won’t know where it is,” he teased. I raised my eyebrows.

“Why is that?”

“It’s a private island,” he confessed. It took a minute for the whole concept to sink in.

“So, are we going to be the only people there?” He shook his head yes. “No paparazzi, no fans, no tourists, nothing?”

“Nope. Just us. We will land on the main island and we can get food and other stuff we will need there, and if we need anything during our stay, there’s a boat we can take,” he said smiling. I smiled and hugged him.

“It’s perfect,” I said before kissing his cheek.

“Well, I thought about everywhere else, but they just didn’t seem to fit as well as this idea. You need to rest and relax for a while like the doctor said.” I nodded and laid my head on his shoulder. We had a couple hours to kill until we landed. I wound up falling asleep. I was woken by Zayn shaking my shoulder. “Babe, we’re here. It’s time to wake up.” I sat up and rubbed my eyes, forcing myself to wake up faster. I stretched and unbuckled my seatbelt while he stood up and got my carry-on bag from the compartment above our heads. He grabbed my hand and led me off the plane and into the airport. He walked over to a man holding a sign with “Mr. & Mrs. Larkin” on it. I looked up at him confused.

“Larkin?” I asked.

“Yea, so the fans don’t realize it’s me,” he explained. “I got the name from Hairspray,” he smiled.

“Oh, well that makes sense then,” I laughed and we followed the man to baggage claim where we got our bags and headed to the car. We got in the back while the man put our bags in the trunk.

“Where to?” he asked once he was in the driver’s seat. Zayn told him we needed to go to a grocery store before we went to the marina and the man quietly drove us to a store close by. We walked into the store and grabbed a few essentials and enough food for a few days. We could always come back later and get more. The man drove us to the marina and Zayn checked in at the desk to get our boat. The man helped us load our things on the boat and Zayn tipped him before he left. We climbed in the boat and headed to our island. It took about twenty minutes to get there. It really was out there with nothing around, but it was beautiful. He pulled the boat up to a dock and we carried the bags from the grocery store inside and sat them in the kitchen.

“You stay here. I’ll be right back with the other stuff,” he said before kissing my forehead and walking back outside. I unpacked the bags of groceries and put the items where they should go. While I was waiting on him to come back, I walked out the door in the kitchen and stepped onto a deck. I walked over to the edge and looked at the horizon. It was so peaceful here.

I knew I was gonna hate leaving here and I still didn’t know exactly where we were. I felt him wrap his arms around me and lean his chin on my shoulder.

“What do you think?” he asked.

“It’s beautiful, peaceful… perfect,” I turned to face him, smiling.
