DELIA
August 18th
Dear Dimitri,
I MISSED YOU MORE! It's been such a long summer without talking to you. A long and awful summer. A few weeks after your last letter, I started counting down the days until school started. I've never been excited for school in my entire life. Your own bedroom AND bathroom? Talk about a glow up. For you and your mom. Trust me, you're gonna love having a room all to yourself. What kinds of kids were you babysitting? Is there gold in their blood? Did you get paid $100 an hour? Hit me up with a gig. Working at the movie theater is fun. I'm still there. I work weekends 4PM-10PM and Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays after school 4PM-8PM. I've been saving up the money I've earned. Well, most of it. I had to use $800 to bail my dad out of jail for stupid bar fights. Twice.
Speaking of my dad, yes. I'm still living at home. You were right. He doesn't want to change. He won't. His promise lasted for a week and then he started drinking again. I don't know what to do. I want to believe my dad is capable of change and being good, but it's like he doesn't even want to try.
DIAMOND AND RILEY ARE DATING?! I need more details. STAT!
Your mom continues to amaze me. I would have loved to gone to the "Good Riddance" party. Did you have a life-size piñata of your dad that everyone hit with a baseball bat? Because that'd be amazing.
I need to get my permit soon. I'm just terrified of the idea of driving. I don't think I could handle it. Were you afraid to start driving?
Love, Delia
