DIMITRI
May 1st
Dear D,
Wow. 7 months already? Crazy how time flies. It feels like yesterday you were just gushing over your big, fat crush on Alison. You know what's also crazy? That we only have 2 more weeks of school until summer. Then we're seniors! Finally. I didn't think it'd ever come. So much has happened over the last 3 years. It's insane.Speaking of 3 years, my dad's sentence is almost up. One more year to go. Mom, Diamond, and Dennis have all visited him, but I can't bring myself to. What am I supposed to say after all this time? 'Hey, Dad! It's been so long since I've seen you. The last time I saw you, you gave me black eye. Remember? Good times!' Like, no.
Mom says he's changed, or trying to, at least. I don't know how she came to that conclusion after just one visit. She wants me to see him before he's released because he's 'still my father' (despite everything he did). I don't know if I will. I'll be in college when that happens, and part of me doesn't want to make up and move on. I don't want to ever see him again.
Spencer has a surprise for me after graduation. He won't give me a hint.
Love, Dimitri
