Steve relaxed against a wall outside the room.
"Hey." Bucky's voice said from beside him.
He turned his head to look at him.
"Hey."
"You okay?"
"Yeah."
"Liar."
"Fine. I'm not okay."
"Thinking about the baby?"
"18 weeks." He mumbled
"What?"
"Emily would've been 18 weeks today."
Bucky nodded.
"Want something to take your mind off it?" He asked, leaning back to make sure Tony was occupied.
"Sure."
Bucky pulled the small silver band out of his pocket.
"She didn't take it." He said quietly "Is that a no?"
Steve chuckled
"More like a "ask me in person." If you ask me."
Bucky looked back again to check on the girls who were occupied by the twins.
"Let's go for a walk." He said, slapping Steve on the back.
The two men walked off.

Steve and Bucky walked down the street not far from the hospital. They were laughing and joking.
"So." Bucky asked a question he'd been avoiding for almost a year "When did all this start? You and Emily, I mean."
Steve laughed.
"Remember the day she broke her shoe? When you carried her home?"
Bucky nodded.
"She broke it on purpose." Steve continued "Cause she had decided at that moment to kiss me."
Bucky laughed.
"So she started it."
Steve nodded.
"Always the forward one."
The two of them continued down the road, laughing. Steve felt a jolt of electricity shoot through his body just as Bucky cried out in pain. As Steve hit the ground next to his now unconscious brother-in-law. Before everything went black, he saw an electrode attached to Bucky's metal arm.
"What are you doing? You idiot?" Hissed a voice "you'll kill him."
Steve heard a gunshot then nothing.
