One Day Since Sapnap Awoke

Zak's POV

I watched the sunrise, the pink and purple colors turning into a sky blue. I woke up early so I went on a walk and now I'm just in a field. The wheat that was normally grown there had been harvested since the colder months were coming. Soon I wouldn't look like the weird person wearing a hoodie when it is 90 degrees out.

Vurb and Mega probably wouldn't wake up for a while. Me and Harvey had really tried to keep them on their toes yesterday with all the training. I'm hoping that I can start training with them as well. Harvey might've done less work than them, but it doesn't mean he wasn't sore.

Finn and Bad had gone out training as well. Bad said he wanted an area where no one could get hurt, which was understandable since they literally shooting arrows. Those probably hurt to be hit with.

I sighed, running my hair through my raven black hair. Maybe I couldn't really sleep as well. This whole dream to take over the kingdom just seems impossible. I should be confident since it's my plan, but I feel like... I mean, if anything does go wrong, it's going to be my fault. I can't let any of them get hurt.

"Thought I would find you out here." I jumped at the sound of Harvey's voice. I watched him as he took a seat next to me. "I went to get you up and saw you weren't there. Even since we were kids, your hiding places never change." I laughed gently.

"Fair enough. Why are you up so early?" I asked.

Harvey shrugged and leaned back onto his arms. "Same reason as you, I guess. Couldn't sleep thinking about the plan."

"You shouldn't have to stress about it, Harv. That's my job." I placed my hand on his shoulder. Harvey shook his head, glancing over at me.

"You kidding me? I'm sure everyone can agree with me when I say that we are all worried about this. You probably the most. I could see you getting more and more stressed yesterday."

I sighed, shaking my head. "We just have so much work to do and so little time! I don't think attacking during the winter is a good idea, so we have to in the next two months. Sure, Mega and Vurb improved as time went on, but is it going to be enough?"

"Zak, Zak, chill. First of all, those two are just as determined as us. Second, we don't need to be the best swordsman ever. We just need to be the smartest." I looked over at Harvey with a confused look. "Let me explain,

Techno and Dream are amazing swordsmen. But knowing Techno, their guards will be attacking instead of them. Without Techno there, all we need to do is outsmart the guards. I was actually thinking of a plan last night." Harvey sat up and turned so we were staring straight at each other. "You wear a big, blue block when out in battle so no one can see your face. If we put that on someone else and send them in, we can sneak in and take out the rest of the defenses."

"So, a decoy? Someone who can deal with the punishments while the rest of us sneak around?" I looked quizzically at Harvey. He nodded, his short hair bouncing with the movement. "But what if the guards take the head off? Not the person's-" I said quickly, shivering at the thought. Those guards were ruthless.

"It's a work in progress type of plan. I'm sure we can all talk about it. For now, it's just something to think about. Maybe a bit of comfort that a plan is at least being thought about." Harvey stood up, holding his hand out to me. I took it and wiped some of the dirt off my jeans.

"With Darryl's and Mega's past, there should be a lot of stuff we can prevent. But what about the unknown?" I asked as we started walking back to the house.

"Well, that's the fun part." I gave Harvey a look which caused him to laugh. "Yeah, none of this seems fun, I know. But in those stories where the hero is thrown into the unknown, they always seem to come out on top in the end. We can handle whatever is thrown at us!"

I sighed, trying to smile a little. "Hopefully."

Tommy's POV

"Wilbur, I don't understand why you sent me to fetch you a single carrot." I looked up at Wilbur, squinting my eyes a tad. He laughed and took the orange carrot from my hands gently.

"Oh, don't worry about it Tommy! Now how about you head back to your room, alright?" He gave me a not so gentle shove on the shoulder. I glared at him and headed back to my room. Tubbo surely wouldn't be there, I had heard Sapnap woke up yesterday, but I bet Tubbo was still in the nurse's corridor. Not that I had been able to check, Wilbur's idiotic quest for me took me all night and I had to sleep at an Inn.

At least it gave me time to think. That night Tubbo had yelled at me, I wasn't thinking. I had just been... lost? Upset? Angry? One of those words. Tubbo had never gotten mad at me so see his eyes blazing like that scared me. I had finally thought about all of our past conversations and realized that all the fights we had, were caused by me never listening. I had caused this bottled up anger Tubbo had without even realizing it.

I needed to make amends with Tubbo, but he had to still mad at me. I couldn't imagine forgiving myself for all that I had done to him.

I reached for the door knob that lead into my room. No- our room. Hopefully it would be still mine and Tubbo's room. I clenched my fist then relaxed it. No point in standing out here looking like a moron.

As I pushed open the door, I already saw Tubbo's shoes. They were his day shoes that he wore while he was not in work or on duty. Bright yellow with black strips, his favorite pattern of all time. I continued opening the door and Tubbo was staring straight at me. An uncomfortable silence passed between us as we just stared at each other.

"Tommy, I-"

"Tubbo, I'm-" We both spoke out at the same time. Tubbo giggled a little. His giggle made me smile a bit. "Can I go first?" I asked. Tubbo nodded and he sat up a little straighter now.

"I'm sorry for being an idiot, Tubbo. I never let you talk or defend yourself. I see it now, I see how I tried to control you because I thought... I thought it was my only way of keeping you as a friend. Not just a friend, my best friend, my only friend. You are like a brother to me and I can't believe I've been this blind for so long. You had every right to snap at me. Please, forgive me." I wiped at my face, feeling tears on my hand. I tried to turn away little, not wanting Tubbo to see me cry.

A little gasp left me as I felt arms wrap around me. They weren't trying to hurt me either, they were simply giving me a hug. It was... comforting.

"Tommy, I forgive you. I'm sorry for snapping at you. It was so lonely last night without you." I looked down at Tubbo. He was smiling, his brown eyes bright. I smiled, squeezing him back.

"You are so clingy, you know that?" Tubbo rolled his eyes, and hugged me harder, letting his head rest on my side. I sighed, not minding.

When I looked up, I was now facing the door since Tubbo had spun me around. I could see the yellow sweater that Wilbur normally wore disappear quickly, as if he had been trying to hide. That little bastard...

That didn't matter right now. Only my best friend mattered.
