Chapter 37: Message

Peter groaned. He opened his eyes and found himself in a dimly lit room. In fact the light source was directly above him. Peter was sitting in a chair, his arms bounded to the armrests. He was still in his suit but his mask was on a table off to the side. Peter heard a door slide open from in front of him.

"Well, hello there, Spider. Good to see you awake." A voice said. A voice that Peter recognized instantly.

"That's the most clichés' thing you could have said." Peter retorted.

Thaddeus Ross stepped into the light. "I would watch your tongue. It would be a shame if we had to cut it off." Ross stopped so he was standing a few meters away from Peter. "Now, where is it?"

"Where's what?" Peter asked.

"You know exactly what I'm talking about." Ross sneered.

"Actually, I don't."

Ross growled. He then composed him. Ross lifted up his hand and Peter eyed the remote he was holding. Ross pressed a button and a jolt of electricity went through Peter. It wasn't enough to hurt but it made his hairs stand on end.

"You have a smart brain Peter." Ross said with a sinister smile. "Now, answers."

When Peter didn't answer, Ross pressed another button before clicking the main one. The jolt of electricity became more intense. This time making him uncomfortable but still not enough to hurt him. He didn't know when Ross will get to the voltage, but Peter was willing to wait things out.

Seeing as Peter still wasn't going to answer. Ross raised the voltage and pressed the button. This time not letting go. Peter felt the electricity flow through his body. The longer he went on, the more he lost feeling in his arms and legs. Ross then removed his finger from the button.

"Still not giving in? I'll admit, I didn't think that would get you to talk. Honestly, no one listened to me when I said that this wouldn't work." Ross ranted. He then set down the remote on the table. Right beside Peter's mask. "It's fine though, I came prepared."

"Now, I'm not the one to do this, so," Ross snapped his finger and the door opened. Someone dressed in black walked in. The man stood behind Peter. He placed a knife in Peter's eyesight.

"If you think that this will get me to talk, then you don't know half the shit I went through." Peter said.

Ross scoffed. "This? Oh, no. He's just going to prep you up. Just a bit." Ross smirked. "I hope know that you deserve every. Single. Moment of this."

Ross left and the minute he left; Peter felt a sharp pain in his wrist. He looked and saw that the mystery man had slide the knife across his arm. The cut was like a paper cut as it healed within seconds. The second cut though, it was deep enough that it wouldn't heal in seconds but could heal in minutes.

Peter let out a yelp as the guy switched from cutting his right arms to his left. Peter clenched his fist together. His breathing became deeper and faster. He let out a scream when the guy had suddenly stabbed him in the stomach.

"Ah!" Peter groaned as the guy removed the knife. Thinking that the knife to the stomach wasn't enough, the guy had punched Peter in the face. Causing his nose to start bleeding. Peter's vision started to go blurry. His healing factor unable to keep up with the fast pace wounds.

How long has it been? Peter had no idea. What he did know was that a man came in and ordered the guy out. Peter couldn't understand a word he was saying. But when his vision had cleared slightly, he looked up and saw a red flashing light on the wall.

The red light disappeared and Ross walked into the light. "I hope you know that when they arrive to come get you, they'll be flying straight into our trap. Their little backup team? No chance. We have already sent soldiers to camp near the area and ambush them when the time comes."

"How does it feel that their blood will be in your hands? How does it feel knowing that the world will blame you for the fall of their heroes?" Ross continued. "How does it feel to be so powerless?"

Ross smirked at Peter before moving to leave. "I hope you enjoy your time here. You'll be here for a very long time. Some might say, for the rest of your life."

"I don't get it. I thought you said you've messaged his friends?" Tony said.

"Well, I messaged MJ and she said she might know where he is." Shuri corrected.

"And? Did she follow you up on it?" Steve asked.

"No?"

"Then check!" Tony yelled.

"Tony, there is no need to be so worked up." Steve said.

Tony gave Steve an annoyed look. "The kid's out there, who knows where! For god's sake, he's not even in the right mindset, Steve!"

"He won't do anything stupid Tony! Peter's smarter than that!"

"That not what I'm saying! Peter's not in the right mindset. He could travel to a whole other state. I'm not saying he'll find something stupid! I'm saying stupid will find him!"

"That feels like the same thing." Wanda said.

"MJ said that she's already spoken to him." Shuri stated.

"And? Where is he?" Tony asked.

Shuri shrugged. "MJ said he left. He didn't say where he was going but she assumed he would come back here."

"FRIDAY, can you contact Karen?" Tony asked.

"Sorry Boss. She seems to be out of reach."

"Maybe he's on his way here? I mean, the compound is pretty far away from the city." Sam said.

Tony shook his head. "It should take him that long. Swinging is equivalent to flying. It's almost just as fast maybe a tad bit slower."

"Boss, you've got an incoming video message." FRIDAY informed.

"From who?" Tony asked.

"Hydra."

Everyone shared a look.

"Send it in."

FRIDAY projected a video on the screen. It showed a dark room. The video fast forwarded and this time they saw Peter unconscious and tied to a chair. The video fast forwarded again, this time showing Peter awake but there was a man putting a knife through him. Suddenly, the video cut black and text in white came.

"24 hours."

Then the video cut.

"Woah, woah, woah. What!?" Clint voiced out everyone's thoughts.

"24 hours until what?" Sam asked.

"Knowing Hydra, that could mean many things," Bucky gravely said.

Wanda nodded. "It can range from torture worse than what we've been shown to even his... death."

"Then we have to move now." Tony went to move but was stopped by Steve.

"Now slow down. We can't just barge in with no plan."

"We can't just sit around and do nothing either."

"If you rush in there, it might just get Peter killed."

Tony backed down after that. "Then what do you suggest we do?"

"We stick with the original plan, the six of us, Bucky, Wanda and Vision. The rest stay here and stay on alert. We leave as soon as possible. So, go and suit up."

Everyone named nodded and left the room. Steve turned to Tony.

"We care about him as much as you do. We won't give up on him."
