Chapter 26: Eye of Agamotto
Peter was swinging through New York. They were still in the compound but Peter joined Happy when he offered to drive MJ and Ned. So, after hanging with MJ and Ned for a while. He went patrolling. Considering he hasn't in a long while. He reassured Happy that he'd be fine and that he'll find another way back to the compound before noon.
Peter landed on a roof and examined a small shallow stab wound he got, which was already healing. He had stopped four robberies, three muggings, five fights, one hit-and-run and one attempted murder. When he says that crime rates spiked up, it spiked up.
'And who's to blame? You. I can't believe you'd leave the city for so long that crime rates spiked up.'
"Oh great. Who invited you back in?" Peter sighed in annoyance.
'Oooh, someone's growing a backbone. Too bad that's not going to last cause I speak the truth and nothing but the truth.'
"You a court now? Good, I want to file a case about being violated." Peter sassed.
'I- okay Sass King. Your rein won't last forever. I'll be back.'
"Great. Can't wait." Peter waited for it to respond but it never did. It went radio silent. Peter didn't know whether to be relieved or scared. Peter saw that it was way past noon. Jumping off the roof, Peter shot a web and swung towards the Sanctum. Peter landed in front of the door in his signature pose.
He walked up to the door and raised his fist to knock. However, the door opened before his hand could even make contact with it. Standing there for a minute in shock, forgetting that literal wizards live here. Just don't tell Strange that he called him a wizard.
Once inside, the door shut behind Peter. He took off his mask and looked around.
"Hello! Um... Strange?" Peter walked around the Sanctum. "Stange!?" Peter's heart started racing. It was silent. Which wasn't unusual for a place where only two lived in, as far as Peter was concerned. Yet, something was... off. The place was magical, or maybe that was just the artifacts and books there, but something was wrong. Peter lived and grew up with magical people, both good and evil, all his life.
There was a creaking of a floor board Peter whirled around, his mask coming up. Peter scanned the area but found nothing.
"Karen, who's here?" Peter asked, his eyes darting across the room.
"Nobody is here Peter." Karen answered. "I have detected no other human life forms."
"Okay, okay, good." Peter then paused. "Wait, did you- did you say no other human life forms?"
"Yes."
"Is- is there something else here then?" Peter's heart started racing.
"There seems to be an energy behind those doors." Karen zoomed into the doors on Peter right. Peter cautiously walked up. He took in deep breaths, trying to calm his nerves. He reached for the handle of the door. He turned it. Peter slowly opened the door. Once there was a small crack of the door, enough to peep through, the door swung open and Peter was tackled to the ground by something red. Red and cloth like.
"Gah!" Peter took whatever it was and tossed it away. He got up and was ready to fight when he stopped. Peter took off his mask and gave an exasperated sigh. "I- are you serious?" Floating with its 'arms' crossed was Strange's Cloak of Levitation. "What are you even doing here?"
The Cloak didn't do much. Peter could imagine that if it did have a face, it would have rolled its eyes at Peter, giving him a 'are you dumb?' look for asking that question.
"You know what, where's Dr. Strange? I need a way hom- a way back to the compound." Peter crossed his arms. The Cloak flew past Peter and back into the room it was previously in. Peter followed it and looked around. The place didn't look like much. It looked like an office. Which seemed strange. Peter didn't think the Sorcerer Supreme would need an office. 'You do you, I guess.' Peter thought.
His eyes then landed on the Cloak. It was levitating by the bookshelf that was there.
"I still don't get how this answers where he is. Is there a book with a map in it? Did he leave a note in one of the books?" Peter rambled as he walked towards the Cloak. "Okay? What do you want me to do?"
The Cloak didn't do much but pointed to a red book on the third shelve. Peter eyed the Cloak suspiciously. Still, Peter grabbed the red book and pulled. He expected it to be a regular book. He expected it to come off the shelf. What he didn't expect was that it was a lever and it opened something on the shelf underneath. Peter crouched down to see that behind the books was a small hidden safe. He removed the books and got a better view of what was inside.
"What the-" Peter reached in and grabbed the artifact. In his hand he examined the gold, eye shaped holder. The Cloak the nudged a book closer to Peter. He opened it up to the page that was marked. Inside was a note.
'I am afraid that I cannot be the one to give you this. So, I wrote this to inform you of my decision. Something is telling me that you will need this. I am trusting you with the eye of agamotto. Inside you'll find what you are looking for. If you are reading this note, hidden inside the pages of instructions, then it means they have found me. Kid, don't make me regret making this decision. I'm never going to hear the end of it from Stark. They don't have much time Peter. You must hurry.
-Doctor Stephen Strange'
Peter read over the note again, and again, and again. 'they have found me'. They? Peter concluded that Hydra found him. How they managed to capture Strange is unknown to Peter. 'Found me' not capture me. A small spark of hope erupted in Peter. Strange could still be out there somewhere. Maybe in another universe. Another Earth. Peter can imagine Strange opening a portal to another dimension, probably a beach dimension or somewhere relaxing. That thought made Peter giggle slightly.
Peter slipped the eye over his neck. It didn't feel right wearing it. He fought the urge to rip it off his neck. He glanced at the book. The first sentence read; open the eye of agamotto. Peter shook his head. 'No, I don't need to open it.' Peter thought. Instead, he closed the book and gently picked it up, like if he didn't it would curse him, and got up from his crouched position.
He turned to the Cloak, it was still floating beside him. Peter imagined if it had a face. He imagined that it would have a pleading look. Like it was saying 'please bring him back'. Actually, no, it would probably have a murderous threatening look. Saying 'you better take care of that or I'm going to blast you into another universe'.
"I'll bring them back. I promise."

I know, it's short, I'm sorry. Anyway, life is... life. I want to say it's at its peak but it really isn't. I think life right now, for me, is that it feels like I'm in limbo. Like I'm stuck in an endless loop. That's what limbo is right? I don't remember, I gotta do some research and refresh my memory. Lmao. I hope all of you are doing just fine too.
Anyway Byeee!
