Chapter 47: Piece

"Can these guys get any more annoying?" Tony rhetorically asked.

Peter flipped out of the way as a soldier tried to shot at him. He then shot a web and swung. He had split off from the Guardians, Wanda and Vision. He knew they would be fine and right now he needed to get to where Ross was.

"Peter, what's your status? I'm with Wanda and Vision and they said you ran off in another direction after avoiding an explosion." Steve asked.

Peter looked around to see if he could see anything that would indicate where he is. "Uh, I don't really know. I don't see anyone but I'm close to the building. Like, really close."

"How'd you get there so fast? You split off like 5 minutes ago." Wanda stated.

Peter kept swinging, easily moving out of the way from poorly aimed bullets. "They aren't stopping me." Peter heard noises of confusion. "They're aiming at me and stuff but it's like they aren't trying to stop me."

"If that doesn't scream 'trap', I don't know what does." Harley stated.

"Thanks for the info, Captain Obvious." Peter said and the others could practically hear his eyes rolling.

"Either way, I'm getting closer so I'm going in." Peter stated. "Before any of you say anything, I'll be careful."

Peter looked around and spotted a window. He shot a web and used his momentum to swing into the window. Peter rolled and stood up at the end. There was no one around but Peter's spidey-senses were buzzing lightly. Peter continued. He was once again, deep inside the building, far away from any exits. The battle outside now reduced to quiet whispers. He stopped. That's when he heard then saw a door opening.

"This better be done soon. You know he doesn't like to wait." Peter observed from his spot on the ceiling as a soldier came out of a room and walked away, their back toward Peter. He waited until the soldier had turned the corner. Dropping down silently, Peter stared at the door. He probably shouldn't go in. He knows what's through that door, or should he say who.

"I'm going to regret this." Peter muttered to himself before opening the door and sliding in. He looked around and he has to admit that Hydra had a pretty decent lab. His eyes then landed on the person in the lab. Their back to turned to him but Peter didn't need to see their face to know who it was.

"I told you I'm working on it. What do you need now?" The person turned around but halted when they saw Peter. "Peter?"

Peter retracted his mask and stared at the man in front of him.

"It is you. You actually came back." The man then stopped. "Why are you here? You shouldn't be here."

"I want answers. To everything that has happened to you that could explain why you were absent for my entire life." Peter said.

"Okay, okay. Where do you want to start?"

"Where did you go after dropping me off at May and Ben's?"

Richard sighed. "We had a call from Shield. An urgent call. It was a mission to take out another Hydra base. We, your mother and I, didn't think much of it. We thought we would finish this task and come right back. To come back and see you." Richard said and turned around to whatever he was making. "Things got messy but we were almost done. We were almost out when your mother got shot. She dropped down. I stopped and went back after her. I carried her around the corner and into a room. She said I needed to go. To get back to you."
