Chapter 34: Bird Brain

Peter was in his secret lab that Tony gave him. He was finishing up the suit he had started. Although, his mind was all over the place. He couldn't focus so instead he did something his brain could do on autopilot. Which was start stacking up on web formula.

"You know, I don't think you'd need that much web fluid or whatever that stuff is."

Startled, Peter shot a web at the unexpected visitor. They yelped out in surprise. That's when Peter noticed that he had just webbed up Clint. Peter looked up and saw the vent open. He sighed.

"What was that for?" Clint asked. Peter shrugged and walked over to a cabinet. "Does this stuff dissolve?"

"Yes, it does after hour. Although, I've made some that can take up to an entire day to dissolve." Peter answered. Still rummaging through the cabinet.

"An entire hour!? I have to wait that long? You know how uncomfortable this is?" Peter looked over and bit the inside of his cheek to stop himself from laughing. Peter had somehow managed to web Clint just as he jumped out of the vent. So, Clint was just dangling from the ceiling by his arm. "How stong is this stuff?"

"Strong enough to keep me from falling to the ground and maybe even keep the hulk still for a decent amount of time." Peter shrugged.

Clint gave a low whistle. "Damn. But like, can you speed up the process?"

"Yeah, yeah. Hold on." Peter pulled out a bottle from the cabinet. He jumped onto the ceiling and walked over the Clint. He poured the liquid onto the webs holding Clint up and it started to disintegrate. Eventually, it was loose enough for Clint to wiggle out.

Clint landed on the ground. He looked up at Peter. "What is that stuff?"

"After a bunch of failed web experiments and explosions, let's just say I was in many sticky situations." Peter flipped down to the ground.

Clint scoffed and rolled his eyes. "Show off."

Peter shrugged and walked back to his suit. "So, how can I help you? Also, how did you find this place?"

"If it's connected to a vent, I'll find it eventually." Clint stated. "Plus, can't I just come here and visit you?"

Peter gave him a deadpanned look. "You? I find that hard to believe."

"Hey! I find that very offensive!"

Peter smirked but kept his head down and eyes on his project. He'll be honest, he found Clint scary and intimidating at first but after watching him rage at Mario Cart was pretty entertaining. Clint was always laid back and pretty cool. If Clint had an idea for a prank or joke, Peter was able to bounce off of him pretty easily.

After the moment of silence, Clint finally spoke up. "Okay, fine. After your little speech, I thought I'd come find you."

"They sent you to find me, didn't they." Peter didn't ask it; he knew that's exactly what happened.

"What!? No..." Clint said.

Peter rolled his eyes. "For a spy, you suck at lying."

'Says you. Your lying skills are below –0'

'There's no such thing as –0 dummy.'

'Hey! I never said I was good at math!"

"My lying skills are immaculate."

"I'm shocked that you know that word, Bird Brain."

Clint gasped. "I have been wounded. Wounded I tell you! You know, Tony's rubbing off on you."

Peter blushed. "No, he's not."

Clint clicked his tongue. "Yes, you are. From your brains to your come backs and insults. Even the way you won't back down. Actually, maybe that's more of a Steve trait." Clint's face dawned with realization. "That's why Buck and Sam keep calling you a Mini Steve."

Peter looked flabbergasted. "Th-they what!?"

Clint waved him off. "That's beside the point. My point is that you have to understand where Tony's coming from. Where all of us are coming from." Peter stopped what he was doing. Clint saw this to keep going. "I'm a father. You know that. I would never, in my entire life, think about sending them in a fight like this. I couldn't let them go into something alone." Before Peter could say something, Clint continued. "Yes, this is your fight. Yes, Tony shouldn't have tried to bench you from this. We almost lost you once before kid, twice actually. I don't want to stop you from going, but I also don't want to see you hurt. Or Tony hurt."

"I'm still going." With or without you guys, Peter thought.

"If Morgan had a problem, like a bully, you wouldn't her to get hurt. Right?"

"Well, yeah. But I'm not going to fight her battles for her."

"But you wouldn't just sit back and not do anything. You wouldn't stand back and not help her. You would want to help her, be there by her side. Right?" Clint said. Peter stayed quiet and Clint got his answer.

"Then don't go alone. Let us help you. This is a fight you don't need to go into alone."

Clint hopped back into the vent and Peter listened as he disappeared into it. Leaving Peter alone once more.

So, I have a surprise for you. A gift from me to you. I figured that since 2020 started terribly, I thought, why not end it on a semi good note. As a good as a note as we can get. So, for the remainder of the year, I will update this book everyday until 2021. I'll try to keep the books 1,000+ words, but since I just thought of this idea, this chapter is a little shorter.

Anyway Byeee!
