Chapter 16: Explanation

The heroes have moved to a conference room. Peter was pacing back and forth at the head of the table. The tension and confusion in the air was very much present as they watched as Peter paced back and forth.

'This is killing me. Your killing me. The tension and the suspense is killing me.'

"Okay, kid. Stop pacing. One you're making me dizzy and two you're going to ware out the floor." Tony said. Peter stopped pacing and smiled sheepishly at him.

"Oops, sorry."

"So..." Clint dragged on. "what was she going on about?"

"Hydra experimented on six kids. They were injected with a colour liquid that was supposed to give them powers. Powers connecting to the infinity stones. They experimented on them hoping they would lead them to the stones. If you knew what a guardian is, you'd know that they can track and feel where their infinity stone is."

"Can't a wielder do that?" Steve asked.

"No, a wielder is someone that the stone picks to use their power without a gadget. Like Thanos' glove."

"What about Strange and the eye of alligator, or whatever he called it." Tony asked.

"The eye of agamotto was used as protection but Strange could use the time stone without it."

"Is that the only difference between a wielder and a guardian?" Natasha asked.

"Well, no, there are more differences but one major one is the repair of an infinity stone. As you know a wielder can repair their stone on their own. A guardian on the other hand, if all are present, they can repair a certain stone. It'll take a lot longer since they can repair one stone at a time."

"Is that why Hydra wants them?" Wanda asked.

"Yeah... and by Abby's reaction, they now have Dawn."

"Come again?" Rhodey asked.

"Oh right. Okay backstory! Abby is soul. There's Hayden who's mind. Then there's Ashley who's reality, Daniel is power, Dawn is time and Jason who is space. The last four I just named are in Hydra's custody. Which isn't good." Peter started pacing again.

"Peter, calm down. Your thoughts are everywhere." Wanda said.

"You don't understand. Who know's what Hydra's doing to them right now!?"

"Peter!" Tony grabbed Peter's shoulders, stopping him. "You gotta breath alright."

"If Hydra get's the infinity stones, it's gonna be Thanos all over again."

"The kid got a point. Can we use the time machine and just..." Rhodey made the choking motion with his hands, "...to the Hydra leader this time?"

"What?" Natasha looked at him and shook her head in confusion.

"Never mind that." Tony said. "We'll get them back. Okay? We won't let anything happen to the your other friends."

"Especially since Hydra is after the infinity stones." Steve stated.

"Everything will be okay. Alright?" Tony asked, looking down at Peter.

"Okay."

Peter sat on his couch. His eyes staring out the window but his mind was somewhere else. Peter couldn't stop blaming himself. This was his fault. If only he told the Avengers sooner. Maybe, just maybe they could have stopped this sooner. Maybe they wouldn't be in this situation. Maybe that voice is right... for once.
