Chapter 9: Investigate

The Avengers were tasked by Fury to investigate Central Park. People said that there was another bright blue light that flashed through the night. Steve, Tony, T'Challa, Shuri and Peter were on the scene. Fury practically force Tony into going. So that is where they are now. The lake was boarded off and it looked like they were at a crime scene. Steve was talking to some bystanders. T'Challa and Shuri were looking around the perimeter of the lake. Tony was flying above the lake and getting Friday to scan it. Peter, well Peter was in the trees. He was right above the place where he and Abby found the Hydra arm band the other night.

"You find anything up there Spider-Man?" Shuri called up to Peter.

"What?" Peter looked down at Shuri. He webbed himself to the branch and lowered himself down so he was eye level with her. "Oh, no. No, nothing."

"Weird, Stark's scans aren't picking up anything so I tried my own scans, cause they're better, and still nothing." Shuri said.

"Shuri! I found a tranquilizer dart on the ground." T'Challa handed his sister the dart and Shuri examined it.

"Looks like there's a bit left, I'll have to take it to the lab to get it checked." Shuri said. The two walked off to join Tony and Steve who were talking to the police. Peter stayed behind. He had a bad feeling about this. If is findings last night said anything, this was Hydra's doing. Add the fact that Jason went missing and now the dart. Well, let's just say answer isn't pretty.

"Hey kid, find anything?" Steve asked coming over to where Peter was standing.

"Nope."

"Well Shuri's gonna take the dart back to the tower. Maybe you could help her."

"I'm sure she can do this herself but yeah, I'll help her." Peter walked up to Shuri. "Hey Princess, mind if I help?"

"One, I told you to stop calling me Princess. Two, sure let's go." Shuri got on the motorcycle Steve had rode.

"Um... are you even allowed to drive that?"

"Nope, but who's gonna stop me!" Shuri said and drove off.

"Did she just steal Steve's motorcycle?" Tony asked, slightly amused.

"Yup."

"Is she allowed to drive that?" Steve asked.

"Nope."

"That's my sister for you." T'Challa sighed.

Peter laughed and shot a web. He did a mini salute to the three adults before swinging off. He quickly caught up to Shuri who was completely breaking the law and driving in between the cars.

"You know it's illegal to drive in between the cars?" Peter said into the comm that was connected to Shuri.

"Really? Oh well." Shuri said and Peter could practically hear the smirk.

The rest of the way to the tower was filled with laughter and the two yelling memes at each other. The two entered the lab and started the examination. It took a while but they were jamming out to some music as they worked. Steve walked in to ask what they've found but was greeted by the two teens aggressively playing air instruments to an AC/DC song.

"Did you guys find anything!?" Steve yelled over the music but the two didn't hear him. Sighing, Steve asked, "Friday turn off music."

"Done." Friday answered turning off the music. Both Peter and Shuri looked at Steve with disappointed looks.

"Why'd you do that?" Peter groaned but when he saw that it was Steve, his eyes widened. "O-oh. Mr. Rogers, what can we do for you?"

"The results for the tranquilizer dart?" Steve said but it sounded more like a question.

"Oh right!" Shuri ran over to the computer and pulled up a file. "Looks like you came right on time. The results just came through."

"Well?" Steve crosses his arms as he leaned on the door frame. Peter walked over to Shuri and read over the results. The results didn't surprise him really. He was expecting this.

"This dart was used to capture someone who isn't human. It can knock out you or Bucky. Heck it can knock out Peter or maybe even the Hulk." Shuri stated.

"It's that strong?" Steve stood straight. Now more alert. Shuri nodded. "Okay, anything else?"

"I can try see if I can find any fingerprints on the dart. Maybe it'll give us a lead." Shuri said. "Now the only questions left are who used it who was knocked out and why." Shuri said spinning around in the swivel chair.

"Okay, well keep us updated and uh... turn down the music." Steve let out a chuckle.

"Sir yes sir!" Shuri and Peter said and mocked saluted.

"I got it!" Shuri yelled. Peter and Harley groaned as they lost another round of Blackjack. Harley had joined them some time after Steve left and the three got carried away with playing various games.

"I feel like your way too good at this is." Peter said as he watched Shuri shuffle the cards.

"It's a gift." Shuri smirked.

"Should we join them for dinner?" Harley said looking at the clock on his phone.

"Oh right. Yeah we probably should." Peter said getting up.

"Hold on, are we forgetting something?" Shuri asked.

The three were quiet, trying to figure out what they forgot. Peter looked around and saw the DNA fingerprint test.

"Eh... I'm sure we'll figure it out later." Peter said looking back at the two.

"Okay then, let's go, I heard Pepper and Wanda made steak and mashed potatoes tonight!" Harley yelled out.

Shuri and Harley left the lab. Peter looked at the test results. It had Jason's fingerprints on the dart. Peter read over the file. He sighed when he didn't find anything that would give away on what he was. It was just old data from before Hydra kidnapped them.

"We'll find you Jason. Just hang on."

"Who's next?"

"Reality. Should be easy to lure in now that we have Space secured."

"I'll get it ready."

So... Happy Saturday? How are y'all? I would say I'm good but I'm more of a meh. It's been raining constantly where I am so I'm stuck and bored inside. Thank god for music though, if I can't write I'll be playing my guitar and procrastinate when to post a new cover. What do you guys do to pass the time?
