Chapter 14: Stop Running

"We need to know these things Tony." Steve said. They were in the penthouse and Tony was pouring himself a drink.

"Actually, no you don't." Tony said as he put the bottle away. It was late evening, it was ten-ish. Everyone else had gone to bed and Tony and Steve were the only ones up.

"Well we need to know who she is. What if Ross finds out? What are we supposed to say?"

"Tell him, we have no idea who she is."

"And what if that doesn't work? What happens when he finds out she has connections to Peter? What do you think he's going to do Tony?"

"He won't get the chance to lay his hands on him. I mean come on Steve! He has the entire Avengers team on his side! Possibly more heroes that will be willing to help him out." Tony sighed. "All I'm saying is that pushing the kid at the wrong time isn't going to work. Give him space and let him come to us."

"But what if he doesn't."

"All those are just what if's Capcicle." Tony lattes Steve on the shoulder then made his way out.

"I'm serious Tony." Steve called out.

"You're always serious." Tony mumbles under his breath. He turned back around. "If not, let me handle it. There's a right time and place for everything Steve."

"I really hope you know what your doing."

"When do I not know what I'm doing?" Tony asked rhetorically. "That was a rhetorical question. Don't have to answer!"

"Yeah yeah, I know."

"What do you mean we can't leave!?" Quill yelled.

Ross had come back and called a small meeting. Steve, Tony and the Guardians were the only heroes present. Ross crosses his arms.

"It's really that simple. You and your crew can't leave earth until you sign these accords." Ross said, gesturing to the papers in front of him.

"They will not be signing anything." Steve said sternly.

"They have too. They took part in the fight against Thanos. Therefore they need to take responsibility for the damage you caused."

"We have. We've been helping out haven't we?" Tony said.

"You signed these papers Mr. Stark."

"And last I checked you signed my papers that said to take off my teams signatures off that. FRIDAY?"

"On it Boss."

FRIDAY projected a paper that said to take off any signatures off the accords and to not put them back until everyone gives their consent. Ross' signature clearly at the bottom.

"I never signed that!" Ross yelled.

"No, but it was easy to get your signature on there and then hand it in. The authorities believed it and took off our signatures." Tony smirked.

"Well their little ship has been taken into custody of the government. We forbid you from leaving."

"Why you little-" Rocket was cut off by Quill.
