Chapter 33: I'm Going

"You guys stayed up how long!?"

"We weren't up for that long!" Tony defended, facing his unhappy wife.

"They were up at 4 in the morning." Natasha said casually as she flipped a page in her book.

Tony turned to Natasha with a deadpanned look. "I thought we had a pact." Without looking up, Natasha shrugged. Tony turned back to Pepper.

"Not up for that long?" Pepper raised her eyebrows.

"Okay, so we were up for a while. It's not like we do it every night."

"It better not become a habit, Tony."

"Cross my heart."

"You don't have a heart." Sam said.

Tony faced him. "I'll have you know that I, Tony Stark, do have a heart."

"He has an arc reacdoor to prove it!" Morgan exclaimed.

Suddenly, the trouble trio walked in. Shuri was yelling at Peter, Peter looked sheepish and Harley was holding a bag of popcorn while watching things unfold.

"You finished it and you forgot to tell us!?"

"I told you I was sorry! Morgan's planted the idea of pancakes so I forgot!" Peter defended himself.

"That's a pretty decent defense. How will the Princess of Wakanda react?" Harley narrated.

Shuri glared at Harley before turning back to Peter. "When did you even finish it?"

"Uh, last night?"

"Was that a question or..." Shuri left the ending open.

"How late did you stay up this time?" Harley asked, still eating the popcorn.

"Wait, hold up, this time!" Pepper raised an eyebrow, she looked at Tony. "I thought you said this was a one-time thing?"

Tony raised his hands in a mock surrender. "Okay, it was a one-time thing for me."

Pepper gave him an exasperated look.

"I'll take the lecture to go, if you don't mind." Tony claimed.

"Whatever, back to the topic, you finished it LAST NIGHT and didn't say ANYTHING!?" Shuri placed her hands and Peter's shoulders and shook him.

Peter pushed Shuri's hands away. "Yes! We've been over this! Just because you change the way you ask the question the answer is still the same!"

"But it works?" Sam decided to interrupt.

"Yes!" Both Shuri and Peter yelled at the same time. Sam look taken back and had a mock offended look on his face. Shuri had a satisfying smirk while Peter looked sort of apologetic.

"It works." Peter said, this time in a normal voice.

"Oh, it works alright." Harley said.

Everyone in the room turned over and saw Harley holding the cube device in his hand. The soul stone still in the holder, glowing brightly.

Clint gave a low whistle. "Damn kid, nice work."

"Uh, I didn't do much. I just-" Peter started.
