Chapter Thirteen
"So Will, how long have you and Kallie been dating?" Matt asked as we sat down and started to eat.
"Kallie and I have been together since, was it the end of freshman year?" Will asked, looking at me.
"Yeah," I nodded agreeing with him instantly.
"Wait, I thought you and Will started dating after your father left?" My mom asked out loud.
Shoot, did I tell her about Alec without saying his name?
"Ummm," I gave a quick glance at Alec who was now suddenly all ears into the conversation all while Will looked completely confused.
"I didn't know Kallie yet," Will confirmed with my mom.
"Then who was the boy you'd always see honey. You'd gush about him all the time," my mom went into too much detail.
"What?" Will now wanted to know exactly what I was talking about.
"It was just a fling," I responded quickly, not even making eye contact with Alec then.
"Just a fling? No no no, you'd talk about what you guys did that day. That was the first time since your dad left that I actually saw a genuine smile," my mom looked at me with a big smile.
"Right well mom that was before I met Will and now I'm super happy," I stared at my mom to stop talking but she continued.
"Why didn't Will know about this mystery boy then?" my mom asked.
"I didn't find it important to talk about someone I," I needed someone to save me from this humiliation.
"I see what Kallie's saying," Alec stepped up and I feared what would come out of his mouth.
"You do?" I said out loud.
"Yeah," Alec gave me a warning look to just shut up, "look Kallie was probably heart broken because that kid probably thought he found someone better. I wouldn't tell my girlfriend about a girl I cared a lot about before them, it's embarrassing," Alec shrugged his shoulders.
"Did he leave you like Alec said?" my mom asked anticipation written all over her face.
"No," I shook my head still looking at Alec and he shook his head to make me stop talking.
"Then what happened?" my mom asked and Will shifted slightly to make me turn back to my mother and away from Alec.
"I left him," I let it slip like it was easy to admit to being the dumbass to leave him stranded.
"But why? You were so happy honey?" she had concern on her face again.
"It felt too much like a fantasy mom, I couldn't stay. I needed something real so I met Will and it felt real and I was happy," I looked at him and smiled and he smiled back genuine.
"You left your possible soulmate for him!" she made it sound like Will was the worst mistake I had ever made.
"Sarah, Sarah calm down. Will is our guest babe," Matt tried to calm her down.
"Kallie your father was shit, he left because of us do you not get that? What are you thinking? Staying with Will? For what? What has he done for you?" My mom left the table in an uproar and Matt followed after her. Just like my father had once done. But he left to make her find someone else to pick up her broken pieces.
"You should probably leave," Charlotte spoke out loud then after being silent the entire time.
"What?" I looked at her and she rolled her eyes.
