Chapter Thirty Seven

"So?" Sophie sat up when she saw me coming towards the lunch table, "I didn't get the details from after homecoming."

"Alec didn't text any of you?" I was surprised at the knowledge of knowing that.

"Of what?" Isabella looked up now fully confused.

I looked over at the line in the lunch to see how far he was, it wasn't my place to tell.

"He didn't show that night," and I wanted to stop there but Evelyn looked pissed.

"Asshole, doesn't fucking share his feelings. Leaves you hanging like a bastard," she crossed her arms fuming.

"He texted me telling me he couldn't make it," I tried to reason.

"Your fucking joking!" Evelyn exclaimed.

"Did he even give you a bit of an explanation?" Sophie asked, looking at me waiting.

"No," I shook my head, which was the truth.

"That's not like him, he always gives any of us a reason for not coming to hang out as a group," Isabella knew that was the truth.

"Son of a bitch," Evelyn rolled her eyes, "I would have driven my ass to his house if I were you."

I wanted to tell them I did but I also didn't know if Alec wanted them to know.

"Well he ma-" I started to say as Alec came over and scooted in next to me on the booth all while starting to speak.

"Hey guys," he smiled, putting his food next to me while stealing a fry on my plate.

"Bold move, sitting next to her all flirty, stealing a fry while ditching her in talking to her!" Evelyn was getting heated, "and I wanted my fucking ship to sail but you drowned that bitch!"

"Alec the least you could've done is give her an explanation for not coming not doing what you did last time," Isabella looked disappointed.

"Last time!" Evelyn shouted and Elijah had to shove food in her mouth because people were starting to stare.

"Alec why'd you do that to her?" Sophie looked genuine and kinder than the rest of the girls at the table.

"Whu hoppon ast ime," Evelyn asked food still stuck in her mouth.

"Babe we're all trying to eat," Elijah said embarrassed.

She punched him in the shoulder before looking at Alec expecting answers.

Alec looked at me confused, "what did you exactly say?"

"Speak!" Evelyn pointed now having more control of her food in her mouth, "don't look at her as your saving grace."

"Aye guys this is-" Sebastian looked at Lelah but Isabella shot him down before he could speak.

"Shove it sporky and sit your ass down, now's not the time," Isabella glared at him as Asher came to the table.

"Goddamn Izzy do you look like a fucking firey goddess!" Asher sat next to her all dreamy eyed.

"Stop Ash, Alec is an ass right now. He needs to explain his rudeness," Isabella looked at Asher, unbothered by her nickname we all know she hates being called.

"What your stupid ass do this time?" Asher then looked at his best friend not as surprised.

"I don't know, I'm trying to understand," Alec grabbed my hand that was on the table like this was normal.
