Chapter Forty Two
The car was quiet on the way back to my house and Alec tried to talk but I didn't want to know anymore. I didn't want to talk really, I was bothered and it was more than what it usually would be about. He grabbed my hand. It was just a simple gesture but it meant so much more than he probably realized. He pulled into a parking spot and looked at me hoping I'd want to talk but I felt distant.
"Do you think I should go to therapy?" I asked suddenly.
He kissed my hand, "I think you need to talk to someone about what happened."
"I trust you Alec, it's just," I sighed, "I don't want you to blame yourself. It's hard to talk about, I guess, part of me doesn't want to relive it," I looked at him hoping he'd understand it.
"I thought I was protecting you by not being with you but you proved me wrong. I can't promise you that I don't blame myself already for letting you go with that random guy and not fighting. I'm here for you baby, I always have been and I will stay until you don't want me here," he stared at me and I hugged him before kissing his lips.
"Can we talk about our relationship status?" I looked at him in the eyes and he smiled.
"Do you want to go on a date today?" he looked at me.
"I have to take Pickles out before I do anything fun, where are we going to go so late in the day?" I asked, turning back to him after staring at the front door.
"Text your mom and ask if you can sleepover," he nudged me with his nose.
"She'll say no Alec," I laughed.
"Not if she thinks you're staying at Sophie's," he smiled.
"I couldn't put that much pressure on Soph right now, you know how worried she is about Alex right now?" I touched his cheek and grabbed an eyelash that had fallen onto his cheek.
"Alex will be fine, Sophie needs someone there for her right now anyways," he watched me carefully.
"Make a wish and then blow," I placed it on my index finger waiting.
He looked at me skeptically before closing his eyes and blowing and opening his brown eyes as they looked back at me.
"You want to know what I wished for?" he smiled.
"No because then it won't come true," I shook my head at him.
He kissed my lips before pulling away, "Are you still the type of girl to wish on a shooting star or make a wish for 11:11?" he looked at me waiting for a response.
"Yes," I nodded not feeling a bit embarrassed about it, "now back to me lying to my mother about staying at Sophies," I gave him a knowing look.
"You won't technically be lying because I will drop you off at Sophie's," he gave me that stupid boy look he does when hes trying to tell me he's not wrong without saying it.
"Okay but Sophie, what if she doesn't want company?" I looked over at him waiting for a response.
"Text and ask then if you're so concerned, all I know is her parents are out of town," Alec looked at me waiting.
I texted her and she responded quickly, "Yeah I don't mind! Actually I want you to come spend the night! But of course I'll be perfectly okay with you sneaking around with Alec before since I know you two barely get to see each other," she texted.
I looked at Alec and he looked at me back, "what?"
"I'll ask my mom but if she doesn't like it, it's a no. Come inside while I let out Pickles," I got out of his car and he followed, keeping my bookbag in his car, probably keeping high expectations.
