Chapter Forty Three
I sat in his car impatient and debated to go off his strict rule of me staying in the car while he ran inside but it had been fifteen minutes by now and I was getting bored and impatient. I always was allowed to come in, what was different?
I stepped inside and Charlie was on the steps looking a little distracted, more upset than she usually was.
I sat next to her and she gave me a look, "you aren't looking for Alec?"
"No, I'm not just wanting to hangout with Alec all the time. I like his whole family too. Even if you disliked me the whole time we lived together I didn't let that bother me," I smiled at her.
"I was a bitch to you," she mentioned.
"Maybe but I think you had your reasons."
She was quiet, "I knew about you and Alec, I remember seeing you outside more than once together before my dad and your mom got together. I think I was such a bitch to you because I wanted the wedding to stop, it didn't seem right. But you and Alec just wouldn't say anything. So I mentioned to dad at the hospital about why you were there in the first place just to get his brain spinning since he was really worried about my mom," She looked at me then.
My mouth dropped and I hugged her, "you, you were so quiet the whole time, acting out of the loop when you knew everything. People need to give you more credit," I let go of her and she laughed.
"I like being looked at as just a side, but I know a lot," she smiled but then her smile faded, "but that doesn't mean I know everything."
"What? What is it?" I waited for her to talk.
"Lacey turned all of my friends on me, made up lies and it caused the guy I went to homecoming to stop talking to me. Everyone thinks I'm such a bad person," she pulled her hair back and I realized how much more I hated Lacey.
"We'll get back at her, I'm sure your brother won't mind you sitting with us at lunch. I'm sure he'll be all for it," I patted her back.
"Then you don't know Alec at all," she looked at me not believing the words coming out of my mouth.
"Just you wait, oh and how we'll get back at Lacey. Alec will also be a big role there too," I smiled getting up, "keep your head up Charlie, I'm here even if I'm doing whatever with your brother."
"He still hasn't asked you out?" she looked at me dumbfounded.
"You think he would've by now huh?" I laughed.
"I can't believe you let him go this long, you should just ask him, he struggles with hints apparently," she smiled at me.
"I'll go do that, what's wrong with a girl asking anyways," I shrugged and walked into his room.
His mattress was flipped off his bed, clothes scattered everywhere, shoeboxes from his closest across the room, his dresser drawers barely hanging on, his room was flipped upside down and inside out. He didn't realize I was at his door as he was still searching.
"How can I fucking loose something I bought years ago, I kept it close most of the time. Where the fuck did I put it?" he sounded stressed.
I walked in cautiously, "What are we looking for?" I asked out loud.
He looked up at me shocked and then covered that with a sly look, "baby what are you doing out of the car?"
"Wondering what's taking so long, can't we look for it later?" I looked at him just wanting to have a nice date with him.
