Chapter Forty Four
Alec pulled up into a beach house four hours away from the town and I told him an hour into it that this was a bad idea but he, yet again ignored it.
"Who's house is this?" I asked him as he parked the car.
"Alex's family has a beach house and the house in town, he came here today to fix it up for me," he opened the car door and I unbuckled my seat to then open the door but he got it before I could.
"But he has pneumonia Alec," I looked at him confused getting out of the car.
"See that's why both you and Sophie think. Alex is going over to Sophie's tonight and you are spending time with me in the beach house," he looked at me then.
"Alec are you telling me I lied to my mother?"
"It's not the first time you did Kailen," he took my hand and walked us to the steps.
"It's the weekend and I know that but what if she wants me home right away Alec?" I gave him a knowing look.
"Do you want me to call her and tell her the truth?" Alec pulled his phone out and began to dial my mother's number.
"No, no baby it's fine," I tried to grab the phone from him but he called her anyway.
"Hi, is it okay if I take Kailen out on a date," there was a pause on his part as she talked.
"I was actually hoping to be able to take her four hours away, I had this idea of a date and," there was a pause again but I heard yelling from the other line.
"No, I have a beach house we are staying at for the night and," and there was more yelling except louder.
"I can promise you Sarah I won't hurt her, I will protect her at all costs," I could barely hear my mother now.
"Thank you, I will bring her back in one peice I promise. Goodbye," he hung up his phone and looked at me.
"So were we about to turn around and go back?" I asked with a smile.
He let out a sigh and took my hand before shaking his head, "she was pissed at the idea but then she realized that I would never hurt you," he looked at me and smiled.
"She just knows I deserved a lot better than Will, I think part of her forgets that you aren't him."
"That and I also ruined the relationship between my dad and her," he took my hand as we walked up the stairs to the beach house.
"We didn't ruin anything Alec, she slept with my dad more than once since him coming back," I looked at him then and he unlocked the front door.
"But we should've told them that day," he opened the door for me.
"If we did they wouldn't have broken up Alec, they would've just kept us apart," I walked in the beach house but I stopped and turned around wondering why he brought this up, "why did you want to tell them that day?" I suddenly asked.
"So my dad wouldn't have been through so much pain from their split," he stared back at me, "is it selfish of me to be happy with you when he's heartbroken for losing your mom?"
I took a deep breath before answering, "he would've gone through more pain finding out that she was never over my father. They would've ended either way Alec. But think of it like this, your moms living with you guys right now. Something could happen there! Would that be so bad?"
"No," he shook his head, "I just," he took in a deep breath, "everything feels too perfect and it doesn't make any sense to me right now," he caught my eyes then.
