CHAPTER SIXTEEN:
REPAY THE FAVORSHE RAN DOWN THE HALLS, stopping in her tracks when she came face to face with Clint. The two looked at one another for a moment before she carefully put a hand up, taking another step closer to the man.
"Clint." Olivia carefully called his name. "Don't make me do something I don't want to do." However, the man pulled an arrow and shot it at her, but she was quick to duck out of the way. She snarled before letting her eyes glow. "Fine. Hard way it is then."
She ran up to him, sliding underneath the walkway as another arrow was shot at her before she stood up and grabbed onto his bow, pushing it up just as he released his third arrow. He went to hit her but she quickly took a step back, dodging the hit of his bow before she herself sent a kick towards him, making him stumble back before he quickly regained his balance, Olivia having slid underneath the walkway. He looked down, trying to find her but she quickly reappeared on the other side, and kicked him back. Olivia quickly stood back up before swinging herself onto the other walkway, narrowly missing another arrow that was shot at her.
Clint was quick to jump across the gap so that he was standing in front of her again. She narrowed her eyes at him before running forward and quickly kicking him in the chest before going at him again only for him to bring up his bow, trying to hit her. Olivia grabbed onto the weapon, using her enhanced strength to her advance as she used the momentum from him hitting her back towards him. She quickly flipped herself backwards, yanking the bow from his grasp in the process before she threw it aside and out of his reach. However, he pulled out a knife and she huffed.
"Come on!" She yelled, snarling. She ran back up to him, grabbing onto his arm as he tried to stab her with the weapon. She punched him in the gut, whilst twisting his wrist, trying to get the weapon to fall from his grasp. He used his other hand to send a punch to her face, but it didn't even make the girl blink. She continued to twist his wrist but he managed to toss the knife so that it was in his other hand, swiping it towards the girl who was quick to duck underneath it. She grabbed onto his arm, but he grabbed onto her as well, shoving her against the railing as they tested their strengths against one another.
The knife was right at her throat as she yanked roughly on her hair, pulling her head back. She grunted before looking at the man and forcing her claws to appear, replace her real nails. She quickly stabbed the man, not enough to hurt him, but enough so that he would loosen his grip on her, giving her the chance to escape his grasp. And in that moment, she was quick to remember the training Natasha had given her, flipping her body over his arm before slamming his head against the railing. He grunted, falling to the floor, trying to grab onto it to keep himself up only to miss. She looked down at the man, breathing heavily.
Clint looked up at the brunette, squinting his eyes slightly. "Olivia. . . ?"
"You turned me back to myself once." Olivia told him, noticing the mind control blue that still coursed in his eyes. "Now it's my turn to repay the favor." She quickly punched him, knocking the man out. Footsteps could be heard, making her turn her head, watching as Natasha made her way toward her.
"Cognitive recalibration." Natasha breathed, nodding her head.
"Yeah, thanks for teaching me that, by the way." Olivia huffed, closing her eyes as she tried to catch her breath.
"Liv." Natasha solemnly spoke, making the woman open her eyes and look at the redhead. "Coulson has. . . he's dead."
"What?" Olivia asked in disbelief.
"Loki stabbed him through the chest, and--"
"No." Olivia shook her head before quickly walking away, Natasha calling after her but the girl ignoring her. She appeared in the room where Fury, Steve, and Tony were all sitting and tears immediately filled her eyes upon seeing the bloodied trading cards that had belonged to Phil. The three turned towards the girl just as a tear fell down her cheek. The girl met the eyes of Nick Fury before stating, "I'm gonna kill that son of a bitch." And then she turned on her heel, her eyes glowing and her claws appearing.
"Agent Jade!" Fury's voice echoed down the hallway, making the girl stop in her tracks, though she never turned to face him. "Don't do anything stupid."
"Never." She simply responded before continuing forward. However, she was stopped once more by Natasha grabbing onto her arm, forcing Olivia to face her.
"What are you doing?" Natasha quizzed.
"I'm being an Avenger." Olivia answered. "I'm avenging Phil's death. And I'm going to kill that mischief bastard."
"Loki will get what he deserves." Natasha calmly told the girl. "But you aren't going out there alone. We're a team, we do this together."
Olivia scoffed. "I thought you worked alone."
"A snarky comeback isn't going to make me change my words." Natasha told her. "Clint is awake, he wants to see you."
Olivia looked at her for a moment before huffing. "Fine." The two walked down the hallway and towards the medical wing in which Clint was staying in. Olivia looked at the man who was sitting on the edge of his bed, back to himself. "Hey, you."
Clint looked up at the girl's voice and she sent him a smile, entering the room and standing in front of him. He stood up before the two exchanged a hug. "Hey, Liv."
"How are you?" Olivia asked, pulling away to look at him.
"Better now that I'm in my right mind." Clint answered. "Thanks, by the way."
Olivia shrugged. "You helped me change back to myself when we first met, it was only fair that I repaid the favor." Olivia shared another smile with the man before he walked into the bathroom. Olivia sat down on the bed with a small sigh.
"You alright?" Natasha asked, joining her side.
"Always." Olivia nodded.
"Time to go." Steve's voice appeared, making the two women look up at him, only to notice he had his suit on.
"Go where?" Natasha frowned.
"I'll tell you on the way. Can either of you fly one of those jets?"
Just then, Clint walks out of the bathroom and looks at the man. "I can." Steve immediately turns his head towards the two women who give a slight nod, telling him that it was Clint and they could trust him once more.
"You got a suit?" Steve asked.
"Yeah." Clint nodded.
"Then suit up."
