Warning: death of a beloved person 

You were accompanied by your boyfriend Lando as you entered the paddock of the Silverstone GP. You could feel the tension in Lando's body as you held hands with him. Right before you left the hotel room he got a call from home. He didn't talk much since then and you didn't know what the call was about. Lando wasn't the typ of person to talk about his feelings or fears openly but you knew that he would if you let him space and if you wait until he's ready to talk about it. Even if something was going on in his mind, he could concentrate on his driving and got 3rd in qualifying. The best result ever for him and the best for the team since 2014.

After driving back to the hotel he got called, again. You could see in this face that it was bad news he got. He almost cried as you could see his watery eyes even if he tried to hide them. After he ended the call he sat down on the bed and started crying. You immediately sat down next to him, trying to comfort him. You didn't talk a word, you just lay in each other's arms. After he calmed down a bit he said that he got a call from his father because his mother wasn't alright. 'My mum...She got injured in an accident... My father called me before qualifying...He didn't know any details he just said she's in the hospital...Now her situation got worse and worse... She's going to die... The doctors said I can visit her to say goodbye... And that she probably won't survive the night... She's in a coma and her organs don't work anymore. The hospital is just one 1,5 hours away from here and I'll be back late in the evening ok? ' You couldn't believe it. His mother had always been a kind person with a big heart... You just couldn't get in in your head she won't survive that accident she had. You just hugged Lando.' I feel so sorry... I can't believe it. But I'll be by your side if you allow me. I'll be with you on the way to the hospital.' He looked at you, thankfully and nodded.

There was a silence in the car you had never experienced before. You saw Lando's frozen face and you couldn't even imagine how sad he must be right now. As you drove towards the hospital and stopped before you decided to leave Lando alone with his mother. He should have enough time to say goodbye by himself and you didn't want to disturb. An hour later he came back, tears running down his face and his body was trembling of crying. You never saw him that emotional before. While he was away you already called his team boss what was going on and he told you that it was Lando's decision wether to drive the race the next day or not.

Back in the hotel room again, Lando already calmed down a bit and thanked you for being with him. He remembered why he was here, he should drive tomorrow and the team didn't know about anything. '(Y/N) I have to call Mr. Seidl...' You shook your head. 'No it's alright, I already had a call with him. Don't worry about that. He said that it was your decision wether to drive tomorrow or not. You are free what to do. If you don't feel able to you are not supposed to. ' Thank you so much (Y/N), I can't tell you how happy I am to have you even if I can't show it now. But I'm sure that I am going to drive tomorrow. My mother would have loved it to see me driving. She always supported me even if she was afraid. The race tomorrow will be for her.'

After a short night you walked towards the McLaren team hospitality. Lando already had a talk with his team boss, telling him he feels able to drive the race. 'Boys, get ready! 10 minutes to go' Mr. Seidl said and welcomed you. Then the race started. Lando had a great start and was on P2 after the first corner. He fought against Lewis Hamilton at the end of the race after a brilliant box stop, it's was a hard but fair battle, and Lando could overtake him and crossed the line. He won his first race in F1 and you knew what he was thinking about right now under his helmet.
