━━━━━ IT WAS THE following day, Ellie sat next to Carlisle while Edward sat in a chair next to her with Emmett near him. Astrid and Max sat on the couch across from Ellie and Carlisle.
"Aro will want us incapacitated before he attacks. Jane and Alec will try and take me out first because I can anticipate their moves." Edward told them.
"Too bad we don't all have your shields." Garrett said, looking at Bella and then at Ellie. The brunette seemed to be confused as to why she had been called a shield.
"Doesn't help me fight, though." Bella said.
"No, but you could help the rest of us, if you could project it." Tanya said, looking back at Bella.
"What do you mean?"
"I mean shield someone other than yourself."
"Is that possible?" Bella asked her.
"Gifts can be developed. Over time." Carlisle answered.
"At first, mine was just in my palms. Now I can radiate it all over my body." Kate told her.
"How do you do it?" Bella asked, turning to look at the blonde. She grabbed her hand and held onto it. "Tell me."
"Ow."
They went outside, leaving Tanya, Eleazer and Carlisle in the room with Ellie. Astrid and Max went to check up on Gwendolyn who had been spending time with the wolves. She started to wonder what she was, it was clear that in some way she was like Bella but it didn't make sense. While Ellie pondered her thoughts, Eleazer asked Tanya to leave.
"What are you thinking about?" Carlisle asked her, pulling the brunette from her thoughts.
"Garrett, he called me a shield too. But I... How can that be?" Ellie asked, looking at Carlisle.
"On some level you are a shield." Eleazer said, causing the two to look at him.
"I am?" Ellie asked, looking at him.
"You can block those with gifts and let them in when you so chose."
"Yeah, I guess that makes sense. But that still doesn't explain this." Ellie said, lifting her hand up to show the blue psionic energy moving around her fingers. "Or anything else I can do with these powers." Ellie added.
"Do you know the history of your family?" Eleazer asked.
"Not really, my dad's family is dead. And my mom didn't talk about hers. I didn't know Jamie was my biological Uncle until I had a dream about it." Ellie answered.
"If we have more information about both your parents then we can determine what type of gift you have."
"I'm sure I can find something on them. They both grew up in Forks so there has to be something."
