━━━━━ ELLIE WATCHED THE members of the Volturi come to a stop in front of the coven, the two humans and the Protector. They removed their heads looking at them and the fire that rested near them.
"Impressive. I've never seen a coven escape an assault of this magnitude intact." Jane informed them, looking over at Ellie.
"We were lucky." Carlisle responded, causing Jane to look back at him.
"I doubt that." Jane replied.
Ellie looked over at Jamie who looked at her, telling her not to do anything stupid without any words.
"It appears we missed an entertaining fight." Alec said, a smirk evident on his lips.
Ellie took her eyes off Jamie looking back over at Jane. "Yes. It's not often we're rendered unnecessary." Jane told them.
"If you'd arrived a half hour ago, you would have fulfilled your purpose." Edward told her, causing Ellie to smirk.
Jane looked at Ellie with a hateful look on her face, it only caused Carlisle to grip her hand to get Ellie to stop messing with Jane.
"Pity." She paused, placing her red eyes onto the Newborn vampire that stood behind Esme and Jamie.
"You missed one." Jane called out.
Ellie turned her head to look back at the Newborn seeing the innocent look in her face, she feared what would happen to the newly changed vampire. Jasper walked over towards the Newborn while Astrid followed in tow standing next to her. All of them seemed to want to protect her at all costs. Carlisle turned back to look at Jane.
"We offered her asylum in exchange for her surrender." Carlisle informed Jane.
"That wasn't yours to offer." Jane retorted, Ellie turned her head looking at Jane. She didn't notice that her gift had started to make an appearance on her open palm. "Why did you come?" Jane asked her.
Silence filled the air, Ellie only feared what the vampire would do to the Newborn. She closed her eyes hearing the screams of the young vampire. The blue energy ceased, and she disconnected her hand from Carlisle's getting ready to attack Jane.
"Who created you?" Jane continued to ask, still using her gift to cause pain to the girl, waiting for her to answer.
"You don't need to do that. She'll tell you anything you want to know." Esme spoke looking over at Jane.
"I know." Jane simply stated.
"I don't know! Riley wouldn't tell us. He said our thoughts weren't safe." She answered, as Carlisle placed his hand behind Ellie to comfort her.
"Her name was Victoria. Perhaps you knew her." Edward told Jane as Carlisle looked over at him.
"Edward, if the Volturi had knowledge of Victoria, they would have stopped her. Isn't that right, Jane?" Carlisle asked, looking over at her.
"Of course." Ellie watched Jane closely trying to figure out what she was going to do next.
"Felix." Jane called out, and then she knew exactly what was going to happen. Felix began moving forward.
"She didn't know what she was doing." Esme announced, Jane held her hand out in front of Felix, stopping him from going anywhere. "We'll take responsibility for her." Esme added, looking at her.
"Give her a chance." Jamie said, moving closer to his mate.
"The Volturi don't give second chances. Keep that in mind. Caius will be interested to know that they're still human." Jane said, looking between Bella and Ellie. The brunette moved closer to Carlisle, connecting their hands again.
"The date is set. For both of us." Bella informed Jane.
"Take care of that, Felix. I'd like to go home." Jane ordered, Felix began walking towards the Newborn.
"She's just a kid." Ellie spoke, the fear and sadness evident in her voice.
However Jane ignored her and continued to watch Felix walk towards the Newborn. Felix passed Carlisle and Esme, while Ellie turned resting her head on Carlisle's chest to keep her eyes covered. The screams of the Newborn filled her ears until she was no longer screaming.
✦
Ellie sat on the couch in the Cullen household waiting for Carlisle to return from Jacob's house. She couldn't find a way to really go anywhere due to the amount of blood she had lost, and the fact that she had to hear a kid die.
She moved forward slightly, careful not to make any sudden movements to her shoulder. Ellie sighed, rubbing her face. She heard footsteps coming near her, in response she lifted her head from her hand looking to see Carlisle walk towards her.
"How's Jacob doing?" She asked as Carlisle sat down next to her.
"He's fine. Bella went to see him when I left." Carlisle informed her.
Ellie only nodded her head in response, not feeling as though she needed to talk. She moved back onto the couch, shutting her eyes briefly as the pain in her shoulder came back. Carlisle noticed, and slowly moved his hands towards her shoulder however she stopped him from looking at the injury.
"It'll be fine. I just need sleep." Ellie told the blonde vampire, he watched her mind go somewhere else.
"Is something else bothering you?" Carlisle asked moving closer to the couch to get a better look at her.
"I'm going to kill Jane. Maybe not today, or tomorrow, but when I'm a newborn I'm going after her, that kid didn't deserve to die." Ellie replied, moving her hand through her hair.
"I know she didn't but we couldn't interfere with the Volturi." Carlisle told her.
"I'm just saying I can't wait to be a Vampire, like you." She added moving closer towards her mate. Carlisle placed a smile on his face wrapping his arm around her.
"Well, pretty soon we'll be alone, just the two of us for two weeks." He said, a smile plastered on his face.
"Where are we going anyway?" Ellie asked, suddenly curious to know about their trip.
"It's a surprise. So, if I tell you I'll ruin the surprise." Carlisle told her. Ellie lowered her head backwards upset he wouldn't tell her.
"Fine be that way." She replied, looking over at him.
She moved closer resting her head on Carlisle's chest, a very content smile on her face. Before she knew it she had passed into a deep sleep, one that had been very peaceful for the first time in a long time.
