"Emily, I'm so sorry for everything. I know we've had a disconnect lately. I hope you'll give me a chance to explain. I have to show you something. Don't call my cell. Someone stole it. Meet me at...", Hanna trailed off.

"Where?", the other girls crowded around the blonde, trying to look at the letter in her hand.

"I don't know."

"I can't tell either", Avery sighed.

"It looks like it's been washed out by the rain", Spencer observed.

"Are you sure that this is from Maya?", Aria asked Hanna, who nodded in response, "Positive. It was hidden under a plant pot."

"I wonder what she wanted to show you", Aria looked at Emily, who was quietly standing beside her, with her arms wrapped around herself.

"You guys, we need to slow down, because we have no idea when Maya wrote that note, and it could have been any time after Emily moved in here with Han", Spencer exclaimed.

Avery squinted when she saw a faded scribble at the top corner of the paper, "It looks like there's a date on the top right corner. Look."

"Oh, my God", Emily shakily whispered, "Maya wrote this the day she died."

Alison pulled Avery along with her. The latter allowed herself to be pulled along by Alison, feeling her bare toes sink in the wet sand of the beach. After seeing Jason with that blonde girl at the beach, Avery had close to zero energy to oppose Alison.

Alison threw open the door of a beach hut with a confident smirk on her face, "Did you think you can start a party without me?"

All the (horny) college boys in it burst into cheers, when they caught sight of the attractive blonde. An already annoyed Avery raised an eyebrow.

"What the hell are we doing here in this shack overflowing with testosterone?"

"Satisfying your slutty desires", Alison shrugged coolly. As if she hadn't just insulted Avery right to her face.

"...What?"

Alison threw her head back and laughed, before nudging Avery, "I'm joking", she reached into her tote and pulled out a bejeweled monstrosity, which upon closer inspection turned out to be a flask, "Here."

Avery carefully took it from the blondes hand, "What is this for?"

"It's just a little potion. Takes the edge off", Alison shrugged, "You should try it."

"Oh my Gosh", Spencer cut in, "So Alison was the reason why you had that weird drinking phase; not Jason."

"Okay, it wasn't that big of a deal.", Avery rolled her eyes before nodding, "But yeah."
