Avery squealed in delighted when she saw her brunette friend, who had gone to Iceland shortly after Alison's disapparance, at the door. Out of all the girls, Avery and Aria were the closest. They had been friends for as long as they could remember and were the only two who had kept in touch after the tragic incident. She engulfed the shorter brunette into a warm hug.
"Aves...I...can't breathe."
Avery grinned in response and stepped back to look at her friend. She seemed taller and-
"GASP! Why did you get rid of your highlights?"
Aria chuckled and shrugged." Actually, I came here to ask you if I could borrow your car. I have to drop-"
Avery feigned a look of fear. " Aria Marie Montgomery! The last time you borrowed my car, we had to spend all our pocket money on repairing its hood after you crashed it. I still don't trust you with driving, so I'll drive you. Anyways, I have nothing better to do."
She hooked her hands with the smaller brunette, who was amused by her antics, and lead her to car, all while engaging in small talk.
They drove to the Montgomery house, picked up Aria's brother Mike, who was pleasantly surprised to see the girl who was akin to his own older sister, and dropped him off to lacrosse practice.
Avery then drops Aria a local bar, god knows why she wanted to go there, before heading to her own house.
Avery herself had gone to Courtland to stay with her sister,Olivia, in an attempt to take her mind off Alison's disappearance. She returned back to Rosewood, two weeks ago just in time for the new academic year. Avery sighed at the sight of unpacked suitcases strewn around her bedroom. Being proactive was not her strong suit.

Avery rushed into class just in time to catch the last bits of conversation between Emily and Aria. She shot a warm smile at them and sat in the seat beside Spencer, who greeted her with a small nod. The arrival of a new teacher made the class erupt into whispers of curiosity. He writes his name on the board and turns around, only lock eyes with someone in bewilderment.
"Holy crap-", he mutters under his breath. Avery turned around to look at who prompted such a reaction from the young teacher, only to see Aria with a pink tint on her cheek. Her phone rang causing the girl to turn even redder as she muttered an apology.
The teachers voice droned on in the background as Avery elapsed into a daydream.

The rest of the day went by in a buzz. The Parker siblings sat at their dinner table engaging in light-hearted banter. It had been a long time, since the trio sat together. Ever since the untimely passing away of their parents, Olivia and Ben were all Avery had. An "urgent" phonecall made Ben flush as he excused himself from the table.
