It was pretty much smooth sailing, after that day. Maya's chapter was over, Garrett had been released, and A had fallen between cracks. For now. Halloween tumbled by, lifting up the five girls' spirits. The streets of Rosewood were decorated with spooky decor, and almost all houses sported a glowing jack-o-lantern on their porches.
"Give me a hint", Hanna whined, looking at Spencer, who in turn shot her an adamant look, "I will not give you a hint. We made a deal. You'll see my costume tonight at the party."
"But what if we end up wearing the same thing?", Hanna drawled.
"We are not going to be wearing the same thing, I promise you"
"Look, I'll give you a hint if you give me a hint-"
"No hints, okay?", Aria reminded the blonde, "We said we're gonna pick somebody from a movie, and we're all gonna surprise each other."
"Whose stupid idea was that?", Hanna scoffed.
"Yours", Avery piped in, as Hanna rolled her eyes indignantly.
"Em", Aria squeezed the girls hand, "You sure you want to do this thing?"
Emily broke out of her trance, and nodded, "I want to do this. I need to do it. I want something big and splashy to mark the whole 'before' and 'after' of everything."
"Symbols and ceremonies?", Avery smiled softly, "And plus there's mystery live entertainment."
Hanna sighed, "I have to get to the dentist." Reading between the lines, she had to go to her and Caleb's newest make-out spot.
"How is Caleb?", Emily shifted her glance to Hanna.
"He's getting better. He was easier when he was in the hospital, though. Now he's got out, and we have to go under the radar."
"You're sure you want to go on the ghost train?", Avery questioned.
"Yeah", Hanna nodded, "You?"
"Yup", Avery shrugged, ignoring the other girls' sympathetic looks. The five girls fell into an awkward void of silence.
"Ugh", Hanna groaned, providing a change in subject (for which, Avery could never thank her enough), "Otherwise I'm stuck with my mom and pastor Ted handing out candy to rug rats."
"Your mom and pastor Ted?", Spencer raised an eyebrow.
"Yeah", Hanna grimaced, "They're getting pretty domestic."
"I'd tell her to go for it", Aria shrugged, "My mom moved on."
"Oh, my God", Emily exclaimed, bringing the five girls to a halt. Following the Fields girls line of sight, their eyes fell upon a coffin, with the words 'RIP Alison Dilaurentis' on it sloppily painted on it.
