For a fleeting moment, Avery thought she was lying in the middle of a field of daisies, courtesy of a dream she could hardly remember now, before she felt the hardness of the mattress below her. Avery's eyes opened, her lashes batting against her eyelids, as her eyes met a whitewashed ceiling...wait, that's not her room.
Avery jolted upright in confusion, but relaxed when she saw that she was in the hospital, suddenly recollecting what had happened the previous night.
Why did she faint in the first place? She was fine the whole day. And what was the time again? Oh, it had only been little more than four hours since she had lost consciousness.
Avery winced when she felt a sharp searing pain on her head and lied back down, her eyes trailing along the IV beside her. Suddenly, she noticed a piece of paper in her hand, but before she could open it, she heard the door open. Jason entered, a cup of coffee in his hand, and Avery quickly hid the piece of paper, wondering what it was. If it was anything from A, she didn't want Jason to worry.
"Jason", Avery called out, earning a huge beam from Jason. He walked towards her, and squeezed her hand comfortingly.
"Hey", Jason grinned, motioning to her pale face, and chapped lips, "You look hot."
Avery rolled her eyes, a small smile gracing her lips, "Shut up. What happened?"
"Your blood sugar dipped, you fainted, hit your head, and got a concussion", Jason summarized.
"Bu-But how did it drop like that?", Avery's eyes widened. A?
Jason shrugged, running his thumb over her knuckles, "Don't worry about that. You'll be fine, okay? Just take rest"
"But-", Avery began protesting.
"Rest", Jason pressed, "Ben and Liv are outside. Should I call them in?"
"What did you tell them?", Avery questioned, "About, you know, us being together in the middle of the night?"
"I just told them you were on the phone with me when you fainted so I got worried, and rushed over to Hanna's. They were too worried about you to second-guess my excuse", Jason assured with a smile, before he turned to exit the room.
When Jason turned around, Avery impatiently grabbed the piece of paper she had hidden, and unfolded it.
SWEET relief! ;)
-A
Her mind was still mildly disoriented, but when she finally realised what was scrawled on the piece of paper, she gasped out loud. So, A WAS responsible for what had happened. Hearing Avery gasp, Jason stopped in his tracks and turned around, worry crossing his face.
"Are you okay?", Jason kneeled down beside Avery's bed, as Avery quickly, threw the paper down on the floor. Avery was tired; both mentally and physically. What did A gain from sending her to the hospital? What kind of personal vendetta did the bitch have against her?
