"Either there's something in that journal that explains why Aria's dad would meet up with Ali the night she died, or we have to believe Garrett's story", Spencer huffed, as she fiddled with the lock to the janitors office, which had been replaced after the previous day.
"We couldn't do this at lunch tomorrow?", Hanna whined, as she looked around.
"Do you wanna run into Harold and his rusty bolt cutter again?", Avery rolled her eyes.
"The school basement is creepy at night."
"How does this prove anything Garrett says?", Emily wondered.
Spencer straightened herself, exasperatedly, "He was in Ali's room that night."
"Maybe he just made that stuff up from reading her journal."
"Why? To stop us from thinking he did it?", Hanna suggested.
"Garrett was shot because he talked", Spencer reasoned, as she went back to working on the lock, "Kinda makes me believe he was telling the truth."
"I really hope it's not true about Aria's dad", Avery bit her lip. Aria would have gone bonkers if she knew the girls had gone back to snoop around for information against her father.
"I have enough daddy issues of my own", Hanna scoffed, "I can't deal with having issues about hers, too."
"All right", Spencer exclaimed, pushing the door open, "You guys go in. I'll keep watch."
As the three girls ventured into the room, Spencer groped around for the light switch. That is when Avery realised that they weren't alone. There was a dark, hooded figure in the room.
It had to be A, right? With her breathe hitched, Avery reached out to pull the person's hood down, but was roughly pushed to the side by the figure. When the room was flooded with light, he escaped the room. While, Avery scrambled up, Hanna peeked out of the door to take a good look at the figure.
"Did you see anything?", Emily questioned shakily.
"I didn't get a good look", Hanna sighed.
"Guys", Spencer gulped, motioning to the empty room, "Where's all of Harold's stuff?"
There was nothing in the room. It's like he was never here. The previous day, only Mona's things were missing, but now, every single thing was gone. Except-
"Look, there's Ali's journal", Avery motioned to the shelf in front of them. Hanna snatched the book and began heading out of the door, "Come on, let's go."
"No, wait", Spencer blocked Hanna from leaving, and grabbed the book from her hands. Her frowned deepened as she flipped through the pages of the book, before her eyes widened at what was written on the last page. Shaking her head, she positioned the book for the other girls to read.
