"So uh... you're a parent then, yeah?" Luke awkwardly asked.
"Technically... yeah, but biologically, no."
"Uh?"
"Can I explain it somewhere else? Keegan's waiting for me and this place is way too crowded for a heart to heart convo," I asked him desperately. I'm freaking out internally and if we have this conversation now, I'll fall to pieces.
"Sure, I'll meet you at your house?"
"Okay, thank you,"
"It's alright," Luke smiled at me one more time before disappearing back into the school hall.
I let out a heavy sigh, not realising how tense I was when he brought that up. I went back to my car and slid into the driver seat.
"Am I in trouble?"
"What? No, why would you think that?"
"Why are you talking with Mr Hemmings then?"
"He's my uh... friends,"
"Right, friends,"
"Or maybe more," I mumbled but he heard obviously.
"Is he your boyfriend?"
"Kinda, I don't know. We'll see how the talk goes later today and I'll tell you about it,"
"I like him," Keegan said, face beaming with happiness.
"You do?"
"Yes. He's cool. A nice and caring guy in general and he also listened to the bands we love and that make him 10 times cooler."
"So you're okay with us?"
"I don't see a reason to not approve of your relationship, so yeah, we're good. Are you serious with him though?"
"What do you mean?"
"I may or may not overhear you talking about your 'no marriage' thing with Uncle Mike and Uncle Cally, sooo..."
"Oh... But yeah, I guess I am. He's the man, you know. I'm sure you understood if you overheard my 'no marriage' thing,"
"What's stopping you then?"
"I haven't been completely honest with him."
"Uh?" How do you explain it to a ten-year-old? Dear God, send help, please.
"Let's just say I hide some truths about myself sooo... we need to talk first,"
"Can I go to Uncle Michael's place then?"
"Why?" I turned my head to my son, watching him giggle while I was left confused.
"So you could have the house to yourself, silly. I don't really know what you two gonna talk about, but usually, when two grown-up take a sit to 'talk', it was a serious matter so I just think it'll be better if there's no kid around,"
"You're not just a kid, you're my kid."
"Exactly. I want you two to work out because I love the two of you and because I'm your kid, I want you to be happy and he makes you happy."
What did I do to deserve this angel?
"O-oh..."
"So, can I?"
"Alright, alright, I'll drop you there. Give them a call first, please. I don't want you to get traumatised,"
"Why would I?"
