Buong akala ko ay mahihirapan akong aminin sa mga kaibigan na nagkabalikan na kami ni Ali. Baka kasi kumontra sila dahil nakita nila kung gaano ako kawasak sa nangyari samin noon. But I was wrong.
Wala man lang bahid ng pagkagulat sa kanila nang sabihin ko ang tungkol doon. There was no violent reactions either.
Mas nawindang lang ako nang sumapit ang homecoming party namin para kay Adea. I didn't even think of bringing Ali coz I don't wanna induce awkwardness for both sides. I thought it might not be the right time yet to let all of them be together.
Kaya't halos mapanganga ko nang dumating sila Davion na kasama si Ali nung gabing iyon. Even Elcid was with them when they arrived. Na akala mo'y walang sapakang naganap nung nakaraan. Seriously, I can never understand boys and the way they talk things out.
Hindi ko nasolo si Ali buong party kaya't hindi na rin ako nagkaroon ng pagkakataon na usisain siya. We were only able to talk about it on our way home.
"I talked to them beforehand.." aniya, not even bothering to spare me a glance as he rotate the steering wheel. "Bago mo pa man masabi ang tungkol satin.. nakausap ko na sila."
"What?" my lips parted. "How did y'all ended up in good terms though? I mean.. that easy?" hindi makapaniwalang saad ko.
He didn't tell me about what exactly happened. Kahit anong pilit ko ay wala. Hindi naman na raw importante iyon. Pero kung hindi naman na nga mahalaga ay bakit ayaw pang sabihin. Napangisi lang sya nang sambitin ko iyon bago kalaunan ay sumeryoso.
"I know how much you treasure your friends, Einj... and what's important to you is important to me as well,"
Magaling siyang magpatameme. That's what I realized. Lugi ako. Sa huli ay humaba lang ang nguso ko habang may kurba naman ang kanya.
"The program starts in an hour. I can ask someone to tour you around while I sign some papers," aniya habang papasok kami sa opisina niya.
Ngayon ang launching ng bagong proyekto ni Ali. He's the actual head of the project for the rehabilitation of NAIA 1. With this one, he's the director, project manager, and senior engineer all at one. Tiyak na magiging abala siya sa oras na magsimula na ang construction.
He reached for the office telephone and was about to call for a staff who'll accompany me in roaming around when I stopped him.
"Can't I.. just wait and stay here with you in the office?"
Natigilan siya.
"You might just get bored.."
Umiling ako. "I have my phone with me. And I promise not to bother you,"
Tumagal sakin ang titig niya bago kalaunan ay tuluyan nang binaba ang telepono.
"Okay then.." giniya niya ko sa longue kung saan may mahabang couch. "Sit here.."
