Rickel***

"Should we smile for the camera?" Shelia asked and I shook my head.

"This is not how you would want to see yourself in the papers tomorrow. Your face is a mess."

She gasped and covered her face then started going toward the elevator. "Let's go get my things."

Where am I going to bring her? I haven't figured that part out as yet.

I followed her up to her room where she had her things already packed and ready to go. Did she know I would come for her?

"Get yourself cleaned up." I told her. "I'll wait for you in the car."

She smiled and winked at me. "Ok, baby."

I was getting sick to my stomach. I grabbed her bags and locked the door behind me. When I got to the parking lot, I quickly shoved her bags into the back seat and got into the front.

I took out my phone and started scrolling for Kadian's number.

The phone rang once before she answered. "Rickel? To what do I owe this pleasure?"

I sighed. "It's Shelia. I think she started using again."

I could hear the sadness in her voice. "Oh boy. When can you bring her in?"

"I'm bringing her in tonight."

Kadian laughed a little. "She's coming with you willingly?"

I grunted. "Of course not. I don't know how I'm going to trick her yet."

"Ok. I'll alert the staff members. I know how crazy she gets."

"Thanks Kadian. You're a life saver." I hung up just as Sheila exited the hotel.

She got into the front and leaned over to kiss me. "Hey fiance!!!" She was overly chirpy.

Oh please Reese. Do not find out about this.

"So where are we headed? Home? Where is Reese? I can't wait to rub it in her face."

I forced a smile. "We just got engaged. Of course we won't be going home as yet. I'm taking you  somewhere special."

She squealed. "Yes! Is it another five star hotel? Are we going to the Caribbean for a romantic getaway? Tell me!"

I took out a scarf I had in the glove compartment. "Close your eyes. It's a surprise."

She willingly let me tie the scarf around her eyes. "Rickel, can you play some romantic music to celebrate our engagement. Oh my God, I can't wait for you to take me."

I turned on the music and turned it up way to high. The thought of taking her made me feel like I was cheating on Reese.

Her high pitched, off key singing make me want to throw up. I pressed the gas a little harder, eager to get her out of my car.

"Are we there yet?" Her annoying voice asked.

"No. We have about twenty minutes before we're there."

She relaxed in her seat. "I can't wait! I can't wait. Oh my God Rickel! Drive a little faster!"

I wanted to drive faster. I wanted to get the hell away from her and her craziness. She had no idea how much I hated being around her.

It was 9:45 when I pulled into the parking lot of Bliss Rehabilitation center. This was going to be the tricky part. Sheila has been here before. With her eyes blindfolded, I wondered if she's going to recognize the sounds around her.

"Don't remove your blindfold but we're here. Now for part two of the surprise. You'll have to wear these headsets." I put them over her ears and turned up the music. "I don't want anything or anyone giving my surprise away."

She was full on wiggling with anticipation by now and I felt sorry for her. I can just imagine how sad she's going to be when she learns that I had tricked her.

I guided her up the walkway and Kadian met me at the door.

"Good evening Mr. Nichols. Her room is on the second floor. We'll use the elevator."

Sheila was still smiling as the music blasted in her ears. "Can I open my eyes now baby?" She asked.

The guilt was eating me alive. She was so excited and happy and I wondered if I was doing the right thing.

"We're almost there." I told her as we exited the elevator and started walking down the corridor of plain white walls.

Kadian opened the door to Sheila's new room and we went in. She securely locked the door behind her.

Slowly I undid Sheila's blindfold and took the headsets off. She was wiggling with excitement.

"Oh my God. I'm so nervous, I can't open my eyes."

I stepped back from her. I knew this wasn't going to end well.

"I'm sorry Shelia." I apologized and actually meant it.

She turned to face me. "Sorry about what?"

I didn't answer as she took in her surroundings: The all white walls, white ceilings, small bed with chains and handcuffs on it, then her gaze landed on Kadian.

"What the hell!! Why did you bring me here?!"

"You need help Sheila."

"Who are you to tell me what I need?!" She shouted at me. "I didn't ask you to get me help! I'm leaving!"

She stomped toward the door and tried to open it but it wouldn't budge.

Kadian smiled. "Sheila, you know doors are kept locked until we can control our emotions, remember?"

Sheila turned around with anger in her eyes. "Don't talk to me like that! I am not in kindergarten. I'm a grown woman."

I sighed. "Sheila this is what's best for you."

She glared at me. "Don't talk to me. You're a damn liar. I can't trust you anymore."

She turned around and started banging on the door and screaming. "Get me out of this hell!!"

Kadian didn't say anything to her. She just watched her intently.

When banging on the door didn't work, Sheila started throwing herself against the door to the point of injuring herself. I could see blood starting to stain her white shirt.

I was getting worried about her. "Kadian, aren't you going to do something?"

Kadian shook her head. "The first stage is denial. She has to reach the acceptance stage on her own."

We stood there for about twenty minutes until her banging turned into small knocks and tears starting flowing down her cheeks.

"Why do I have to be so stupid?" She whimpered. "I need help....I need help....I need.....help."

Kadian stepped closer to her. "I'm going to help you."

Sheila nodded as Kadian helped her up and dried her tears. She turned to me. "Thanks for bringing me here Rickel but can you stay with me for the night? I don't want to be alone, at least not on the first night."

"Sure, I will." Her pitiful eyes were pulling at my heartstrings.

I crossed my fingers hoping Reese won't ask me where I spent the night. I decided to just wait until Sheila fell asleep, then I could just slip away and sneak back into my house before Reese woke up.
