Reese***

I heard my phone ringing.

I glanced at the living room clock.

3:27 am.

Who the heck could be calling me at this hour?! It must be the wrong number.

I closed my eyes and tried to go back to sleep.

The phone rang again.

Damn it!!

I fetched it from the coffee table and looked at the caller's ID.

Rickel Nichols.

Huh? Why would he be calling me this late? Is he drunk? Should I answer or ignore the call? He has to have dialed the wrong number.

The phone rang again and I timidly pressed the answer button.

"Hello?" I whispered.

"Reese?" Rickel's voice sounded hopeful. "I need your help right now!"

"At this hour?" I whispered. "It's really late sir. Where would I get transportation at this hour?"

There was silence on the line for a few moments then I heard Rickel grunting and ruffling around. "Text me your address. I'll come and pick you up." He said then hung up before I could even answer.

Should I text him my address?

Against my better judgment, I did. Not knowing what was going to happen next made me curious and oddly excited. What could he possibly need my help with?!

I changed out of my pajamas and grabbed my coat from the closet. Half an hour later Rickel texted me that he was outside.

I silently sneaked out so I wouldn't wake Gaby. She would have too many questions right now.

Rickel's black BMW was parked directly in front of the apartment building. The first thing I saw when I went outside was Rickel leaning on his car. He was sporting knee-length shorts and a black t-shirt. I've never seen him dress casually before.....well I've only been to his house when he is dressed for work or coming from work.

"Hi?" I said when I walked up to him, not knowing if I should just get in the car or make conversation first.

Rickel got in the car without saying a word to me. That's pretty disrespectful for someone who is seeking help.

I got in the car, put on my seatbelt and Rickel sped off.

I sat there in silence wondering if I should ask why I'm there but the serious look on Rickel's face and the way he was gripping the steering wheel made me change my mind.

Rickel inhaled sharply a few times but still didn't say a word.

Does he know I'm here? Is this some kind of disorder that he has? Is he sleepwalking/driving?

A few minutes later we were pulling into Rickel's mansion. He got out and walked toward the house, still not saying anything to me.

What the hell am I doing here? Have I lost my freaking mind?

Rickel stood by the door and locked it once I came in. My skin tingled. I felt like those people in movies who are stupid. No matter how much you scream at them, 'Don't go in! Don't go in!', they still go.

Estupido!

"This way." Rickel led the way to his bedroom.

My stomach was in knots. This was like history repeating itself!

"Wait," I shouted and he looked at me frightened. "I am not that kind of girl, Mr. Nichols... don't think you can just pick me up in the early hours of the morning and bring me to your room to satisfy your needs. I'm not a booty call."

Rickel snickered. "It's cute that you think I want to have sex with a maid. Get a hold of yourself. I need your help in the master bathroom.

I was both embarrassed and angry at the same time but I followed him into the bathroom nonetheless.

I covered my mouth to muffle my screams. Sheila was in the bathroom with cuts and bruises all over her body.

"I-I'm not a nurse." I stuttered.

Rickel shook his head. "It's just a few scratches. Nothing serious. I called you because I need you to change her."

"Huh?" I was confused.

Rickel walked over to the unconscious Sheila and spread her legs open.

"This is what I want you to change. Her blood thingy." He said.

I cringed. "Oh no! There's no way I'm changing another girl's tampon. That's damn disgusting!"

Rickel pinched the bridge of his nose. "I knew you wouldn't do it." He mumbled. "Listen. If you do this I'll owe you.....I'll even raise your salary. Anything."

That sounded tempting. So tempting. I started imagining the things I could ask him for. Maybe I could have him pay a few months' rent for a new apartment. Then I could finally move off of Gaby's coach.

"Bathe her, dress her wounds, and place her on my bed. I'll be downstairs." He said then left me alone with the she-devil herself.

Think of something pleasant! Think of something pleasant!

I chanted as I changed Sheila. If I was as evil as she was, I would have taken a picture of her in this state and posted it on Instagram.....but I'm not like her.

I took out my phone and snapped a picture.....in case I need to blackmail her in the future.

I groaned and grunted as I tried to get Sheila into the bath. For someone who doesn't eat anything, she was quite heavy. Maybe it was because of her extra-long legs.

It took me almost half an hour to bathe her and drag her to the bed. I went back to the bathroom to get the first aid kit. Now that she was clean, her cuts didn't seem to be serious at all. I placed bandaids on them and tried to dress her as quickly as my feeble body would let me.

What happened to her anyway? She was being her usual bitchy self when I saw her yesterday. I ought to demand that Rick tell me what happened. After all, I'm the one doing the dirty work here.

I exhaled.
I was exhausted. My poor muscles were sore from all this work. I looked at the time on my phone.

5:08 am.

I got up to leave but I felt hands grab me back. Sheila was finally awake.

"Help me, maid!" She whispered. "Look what he did to me! Please don't let him hurt me anymore. Please!" Her scared eyes made my heart race.

Did Rickel do this to her? What if he's going to hurt me too? No one knows I'm here!

"I'll help you," I whispered to her then turned to go down the stairs.

Rickel was standing in the doorway with a serious expression on his face. "I thought I told you to come downstairs when you were through." He said and I froze.
