Reese***

The music was thumpinhg, the wind blowing through my hair and I was in high spirits. I've never felt so happy in a very long time.

I was so delighted that I had some money to leave with Mrs. Francis. Now I don't feel like I'm burdening her too much. Just a few more weeks, a few more paychecks and I can move into my own apartment. Things are really starting to look up for me.

I bounced my head to the lyrics of Charlie Puth as I stared at the open road before me. I felt so free, so loose that I didn't want to stop driving. I wanted to be on this open road forever but I knew I couldn't. In an hour I will be back in Rickel's house and back to reality. The thought was so burdensome that I turned the music up and tried to get back to my happy place.

An hour later, I pulled into Rickel's garage and all his cars were there. He was home from work already.

I parked the car and went inside deciding to go straight to my room and get some rest. All that driving made me so tired.

"Where were you?" Rickel asked calmly but he still made me jump with fright.

Why the hell was he sitting here in the dark!?

I turned on the light.

"Rickel? Was something wrong with the light switch or your hands?" I joked.

Rickel got up and the serious look on his face made me wish I had kept my mouth shut.

"Where are you coming from?" He asked with authority in his voice.

What was he? My dad?

I folded my hands across my chest. "I have an ID, a driver's license and you bought me a car. Was I not supposed to use it?......and do I have a curfew now? Because you didn't inform me and it's only 8pm."

Rickel stared at me as I started getting riled up. He ran a hand through his hair.

"I'm not trying to treat you like a child. I would just like to know that when you leave the house, you are safe. Is that too much to ask?"

I exhaled and calmed down a bit. "Ok. I'm sorry. I'll leave a note or something next time."

"Where did you go that you had to leave your phone behind?"

I sighed. "I'll explain some other time. I'm going over to Gaby's to get my phone. Thanks for reminding me."

I needed to get out of here fast. There's no way I can tell him where I was coming from.

I hated the look Rickel had on his face. He looked like a lost puppy. I know he cares about me and wants to help but some things I just have to do on my own.

I shut the door behind me and just left him standing there. As I headed over to Gaby's apartment, I started feeling bad. I shouldn't have treated Rickel like that. He was just looking out for my wellbeing.

I sighed. I'll just apologize to him when I get back.

When I knocked on Gaby's door, I heard giggling. Maybe I should just turn and leave. She seemed to have company. Just as I turned to leave, she opened the door.

"Reese. Hey! Come in."

She looked carefree in her loose summer dress and a broad smile on her face.

"What brings you buy ma darling?" She said in a poor British accent.

I cleared my throat when I realized why she was giggling so much. Aaron was standing behind her wearing nothing but a track pants that hung loosely on his hips.
