Reese***

"How do I look?" Gaby straightened her skirt again.

"Stop fidgeting. You look fine."

It was Monday morning and we were riding the elevator up to Rickel's office. Rickel said he was making her his second assistant. I smiled to myself. He created a new job just so he could employ her.

"Is there anything in my teeth?" She asked nervously.

"You're all good." I assured her. I really didn't see what she was fussing about. It's just an assistant job. Nothing too extravagant.

The elevator opened and we stepped into the open plan office. Everyone were busy with their own work and no one paid us any attention.

Rickel was waving to us from a door in one corner of the room. I'm guessing it's his personal office.

We made our way over to him and he ushered us into his office and locked the door.

His office was spacious with a black, glass table at one corner and huge windows that overlooked the city below. There were too long bookshelves on either sides of the office and I wondered if there were any good novels.

"Did you bring your résumé?" He asked Gaby while I continued to admire his office.

He started interviewing her and I stood by one of the windows. The feeling up here was so relaxing, I wish I could stay here all day.

Maybe I should ask him for a job as his office cleaner.

I ran my finger on the edge of the window. There was no dust. Hmmm.....he has a good cleaning lady. What if that lady was Janell? What if they had sex while she cleans? My heart was racing and I felt like strangling her!

I smiled and shook my head. What was I even thinking? This was the guy who raped me and spoilt my future. Why would I fight over him? That would be so stupid of me.

"Reese?" I heard Gaby say. "You ok girl?"

"Of course. I think I'll go now since you are all settled in."

"You could stay until lunch." Rickel suggested. "I'm sure Gaby would like a friendly face."

"Gaby isn't working for that guy anymore so she'll be alright. Right Gabs?"

She nodded.

"Wait. You didn't tell me your former boss' name." Rickel said.

Gaby smiled weakly. "His name is Campbell. Tavarie Campbell."

What?!

Could it be the same Tavarie that was nice to me at the party? No way!

Rickel snorted and cursed under his breath. "Did you tell him where you would be working from?"

I could see that Gaby was getting scared. "No. I didn't tell him where. I just told him I would be working for you."

Rickel rubbed the little stubble growing on his chin. "I guess I'll just wait for him to pay me a visit then."

Rickel glanced at me and I instantly knew what that look meant. It was an 'I told you so' look.

He put a fake smile on his face and showed Gaby to her desk which was just outside his office.

Rickel went to get coffee and I told Gaby goodbye and slipped away before he could notice.

I needed some fresh air and I needed to clear my mind.

Tavarie is a sweet guy. He treated me so well at that party, it's hard for me to believe it's the same guy who abused Gaby.

I took a cab home, deciding to clean the house to get my mind off the whole situation.

As I walked down the entrance hallway, I remembered the first day I came here and how I admired these photos.

I'm finally starting to see the happy Rickel that these pictures depict. He's not bad afterall. He's just stubborn. I really hope he finds Tavarie and take him down before he gets the chance to hurt someone again.

I threw my bag on the couch and took off my jacket. There wasn't much cleaning to do because I did a deep cleaning on Sunday.

I decided to just play some music, dust the furniture and not think about Tavarie.

As I went for the furniture cream and dusters, the doorbell rang. I didn't want to answer it. It was probably some kids selling cookies.

The doorbell continued ringing and I was getting annoyed. I threw down the cleaning products and stomped to the door.

"Hello?" I was staring into Tavarie's face. His wide toothed grin was making me very nervous.

"What are you doing here?"

He continued his creepy smile. "I'm just checking up on you. You working for Rickel? I thought you guys were a couple."

"I don't think Rickel would want you at his house." I suggested.

"That's the thing." He took a step into the house. "I don't really care what Rickel thinks. See, I'm not really a fan of his."

"Tavarie, I have work to do. I think you should leave."

"Really?" He opened his jacket and I caught a glimpse of his gun. "I think I'm going to spend the day here with you."

He locked the door behind him and I started backing away. Maybe I could make a run for the backdoor. I glanced toward the passage and Tavarie laughed.

"Don't even think about running. My bullet is faster than you."

He held his gun in his hand and took a seat in the armchair.

"Dance while you strip for me baby." He was twirling the gun on his index finger and smirking at me.

I folded my hands. "Tavarie, why are you doing this?"

"Why? Hmmmm....." He chuckled. "Rickel needs to be taught a lesson. He's acting too cocky for my liking. Now strip!"

I could see he was starting to lose patience so I started pulling my buttons slowly. I couldn't believe this was happening to me. I was going to be raped again.

"Why the hell are you taking so long? Are you trying to test my patience?!" I walked over to me and gave me a slap across the face with his gun.

There was a metallic taste in my mouth and I felt like my cheekbone was dislocated.

"Why? What did I do to you Tavarie?" I whispered.

He started laughing. "You're just one big dumb bitch, aren't you?"

He grabbed me by the neck and threw me into the couch. He ripped my clothes from my body angrily.

This was happening to me again. The warm tears were streaming down my face and when I felt his cold hands run up my leg, I lost all hope. Probably if I just be quiet and take it, it will be over quickly.
