"I'm so sorry." Gaby apologized. "I didnt know you were coming over.

Aaron's gazed was still locked with mine and we weren't paying attention to Gaby.

We haven't seen each other in more than a year and this is how we meet. My best friend riding him.

"That's ok, Gaby. I'll leave."

"Wait. Let me at least introduce you to Aaron."

"I think I've seen enough." I turned to leave.

She wants to introduce him to me? Don't she realize that he identified me when I walked in?

"He knows my name." I said out loud.

Gaby laughed. "Of course he does. I've been showing him pictures of you since he liked the dress you gave me for our first date."

He recognized the dress. I knew he would.

This was all too much for me. I turned and left without saying another word. Why didn't I stay in Puerto Rico? I would be poor maybe, but I'd be much happier than I am now.

I rushed out of the apartment with tears blurring my vision. I had to grab my chest and try to breathe.

Why? Damn it! Why me?!

I don't know where I was going but I just started running. The cool breeze was blowing away my tears and giving me a tingling feeling.

I stopped to catch my breath and pull out my phone. My blurry eyes could hardly see my contact list. Who could I call anyway?

My finger landed on Tavarie's number and I hit send. What was I going to tell him anyway? I caught my best friend having sex with my ex-boyfriend and it made me upset? There's no way I can tell him that. He will think I'm a lunatic.

"Hello."

I quickly ended the call when I heard his voice. It was a mistake calling him. I cannot burden a stranger with my problems.

My phone started vibrating. I contemplated whether to answer or not. Against my better judgement I picked up.

"Reese? Are you ok?" He asked.

I sniffled into the receiver. "Y-yes. I am."

There was a short pause.

"Stay where you are and send me your location. I'm coming to pick you up."

I sat on the curb with my arms wrapped around my torso as I waited patiently.

When Tavarie came I got in the car and he didn't ask any questions. He just started driving. About twenty minutes later we stopped.

"Where are we?" I asked when I looked out the window and saw a lake.

"We're at a happy, stress free place." Tavarie smiled at me. "Let's sit outside on the hood."

"Outside? Isn't it cold?"

"Weirdly it's not. The temperature is just right."

I followed him and sat on the hood of his car. For a second it crossed my mind that Tavarie might be dangerous but I quickly dismissed it. No evil person would go out of their way to be nice to someone like this. I mean, he must have been doing something when I called him and he just dropped everything to come to my rescue. He's a good man.

"What's going on in that mind of yours? You seem so far away."

I smiled. "I feel so light out here. It's almost as if the sky is right here." I stretched out my hand pretending to touch the stars.
